Detect magic, arcane sight and greater arcane sight

For reference:
Detect magic, arcane sight, greater arcane sight.
My question is what are the differences between those spells? From what i read detect magic takes 3 rounds in order to get to roll spellcraft to see what the enemy has on him, with arcane sight no rounds are required but you still have to roll spellcraft and greater arcane sight requires neither rounds nor spellcraft rolls right?


Detect Magic also requires concentration.

But my most important question is this:
Arcane sight doesn't need 3 rounds in order to see what spells and effects anyone that i see (whithin 120 ft.) right?


Detect Magic (1st round): Is there magic in a 60' cone?
Detect Magic (2nd round): How many spots of magic in that cone? What's the strongest?
Detect Magic (3rd round): What's the strength and location of each aura?
Detect Magic (3rd round + spellcraft): What's the school of each aura?

Arcane Sight (immediately): What's the strength and location of each aura within 120' of me?
Arcane Sight (immediately + spellcraft): What's the school of each aura?
Arcane Sight (standard action): What's the spellcasting info for a creature?

Greater Arcane Sight (immediately): What's the strength, location, and actual specific effects of each aura I can see within 120'?

Emphasis mine. I take it that with that you mean the second paragraph of arcane sight right? the one who allows you to see if a target is a spellcaster etc.

Yep.


Detect Magic requires concentration on every round you want to keep it going even if you aren't specifically studying anything.

Thank you, i didn't know that.


No problem -- the place to look for it is in the duration line:

A lot of illusions have that line (or something similar) too.

After you said it i looked harder and i saw it. I should pay more attention to cantrips.

Anyway arcane sight is a much better spell than i thought a few days ago.
