I am attempting this as my new character. Any advice on what to focus on and avoid? Looking for any problems to anticipate before they arrive. If it was yours what would you change? Also there was a string of feats in 3.5 that allowed parts of a multiclass character to stack, did pathfinder convert them at all?
Here is a quick outline, be critical I do not make too many martial characters.
Paladin 1/Oracle 3 (metal)
Human
24 Point Buy Character
Str. 18
Dex. 12
Con. 12
Wis. 10
Cha. 18
Oracle
-Wasting curse-
-dancing of the blades-
-iron weapon-
-power attack
-improved sunder
-Lightning Reflexes

I would avoid multiclassing casters especially casters like the oracle and sorcerer who already get spells one level late because that then makes them 2 level late.
Now if you don't care so much about optimization and really want this build the question becomes how much do you plan to multiclass. That will be a big factor in deciding how to proceed.

Noted: 2nd level in paladin, that was one of the bigger questions that was picking at me.
I am not too concerned with loosing the higher level spells. Most if the interesting combat buffs are low-mid level.
Any feat recommendations?
The power attack feat line is good, don't go with stuff like lightning reflexes, since you'll have charisma for that.

I think you should take more than a 1 level dip into Paladin. Paladin's get good stuff at 2nd and 3rd level. 2nd level Divine grace and lay on hands and 3rd level you get Divine Health.
Also, why the Wasting Curse?
You get a -4 adjustment to all charisma skills, except intimidate. I'm assuming this includes Use Magic Device. Even though it's not a class skill, the +4 Charisma bonus makes up for that compared to characters with lower charisma modifications.
I think the benefits of Wasting - eventual immunity to disease (at level 10, I think), for example - can be gotten by the Paladin at level 3 and you reduce the skill check benefit of what should be a +4 on charisma based skills.
Maybe it's in your character background concept that it'd be important. From a synergy stand point, I don't think wasting works well with Paladin.

Definitely agree with this, Wasting curse seems to be the worst choice for this combination.

Plus if your using the trait rules, you could take 'Magickal Knack' from the magic traits to offset the loss in spellcasting level from dipping into Paladin.
I think 'Wasting Curse' works thematically for the character concept here. As I assume a combat optimized paladin/oracle won't exactly be the most diplomatic of individuals. Plus if he keeps his helmet visor down most of the time, they'll never know...
Ordinarily I'd suggest extra revelation as a feat to get more of the other fun revelations in the Metal Mystery. At later levels I'd suggest abundant revelations to let you use some of the cooler ones more times per day.
Theres also some 3PP feats by Open design that I could recommend if your GM allows non-paizo sources.

Sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised with a sub-optimal multiclass. A long time ago I ran for a guy who made a Wizard 1, Rogue 5. I always thought the Wizard level was kind of stupid until one magical day he got cornered by 6 Power Attacking Orcs that could hit his AC. So he did what any self respecting wizard would do. He cast Expeditious Retreat and ran away. He lured them into the trees, popped out with a SA and killed one, then ran off again. He did kill all 6 of them. It was astonishing.
