Chaos Mage in Pathfinder?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hey, a friend of mine loves the Chaos Mage class in 3.5 and generally the unique ability to create your own spells.

Is there an equevalant of this class?
Is there something close enought i could suggest to him , as an archetype or a prestige class?

Look for Words of Power from Ultimate Magic.

Not quite the Chaos Mage but it's a good place to start.

The Exchange

Why not just use the Chaos Mage as written? Pathfinder is written as generally 3.5 compatible.

There's the Primalist wizard and the Spellscar oracle mystery, both from Inner Sea Magic. You can find them on d20pfsrd.com too. Those as wordcasters could work.

I'm brand spanking new to Pathfinder...and it's been years since I played D&D Third Edition.

I just got invited to play in a Pathfinder game, I was told that Pathfinder is pretty much D&D 3.5 with some tweaks and I remembered that the one class that I was really interested in, but never got to play, in 3.5 was Mongoose Publishing's Chaos Mage.

I have The Quintessential Chaos Mage book...just dusted it off my shelves and was wondering if any of you Pathfinder veterans could clue me into the quick and easy conversions for this specific character.

Any of you familiar with the 3.5 class and the best way to make it a Pathfinder character?

In my carefree days of youth, I would have enjoyed the challenge of converting this myself. Now I have a family and responsibilities and just want to get to play the games when I can spare the time.

If anyone has already tweaked the Chaos Mage for Pathfinder, I'd LOVE to see the fruits of your labors.

Anyone?
