Command Undead Feat & Desecrate

Rules Questions

Ok probably another silly question, if you are in a Desecrated area and you use your channel to Command undead are you still using negative channeled energy for the purpose of Desecrate, therfore get the +3 on the DC?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time :)

Desecrate says it fills an area with negative energy that grants a bunch of profane bonuses to different things. The first bonus it states is that the DC to resist negative channeled energy is increased. In this case, the negative energy mentioned seems pretty generic. It doesn't say "negative energy for the purpose of x, y, and z." It just says negative energy. If you're channeling negative energy in a desecrated area, even for the purpose of commanding undead, I don't see how you wouldn't get a bonus.

I will say, however, that this seems like it would be a rare circumstance to me. You would most likely be the one desecrating an area and summoning undead that you already command anyway. I can only think of two situations where you would want to command undead in a desecrated area. 1) You entered a necromancer's gold mine filled with undead and you want to desecrate the area and command them for yourself. Or 2) you are battling a rival necromancer and want to command his undead in his pre-desecrated area. May I ask what the circumstances are?

Thats great news :) (for me that is) Thank you
Sure Thing, I dont expect it would happen very often haha, we are about to head into a town that has been taken over by undead, and we presume there is a necromancer, and guessing its desecrated. I just want to understand my abilities in the case it is how I believe it to be.
Will I be able to tell if its desecrated?

Big bad: Muahahhaha! You heroes will never destroy my undead in this unholy ground!!!

Shady cleric: "Heroes?" Negative energy explosion powered by the big bads own desecrate "DANCE MY PUPPETS DANCE!"

It would technically be a knowledge arcana roll to notice the desecrate in place... but the skulls , black altar and virgin sacrifice usually gives that away.

Knowledge: Religion would seem to be more appropriate desecrate being a divine spell and all.

haha hopefully so :)
should make for an interesting gaming session
ok so a knowledge (Arcane or Religion, whatevery my GM says) should let me know :)
thank you all

Detect magic followed by a successful spellcraft check. Detect Evil (maybe)
