Healing Construct Player

Homebrew and House Rules

I have a player that really wanted to play an Ebberon Warforged rogue (don't know why picked rogue for this race). But we didn't agree on a conversion. So we made a construct race with the race builder guide trial document.

Question is how to heal him. Ebberon rules said constructs got half healing from cure spells. PF does not have that rule. But he won't live long enough to wait until gets the mending spell.

One idea was to allow mending to work on a construct. But that seems way too much since it is a 0Lv infinite cast. Even though it takes 10 min thats 360 each day for a 1 level dip into a caster class.

Was thinking the easiest way is to just use the Ebberon rule to give 1/2 healing from cure.

Does this seem reaonable or do you see a better idea?

Liberty's Edge

DDO has a "cure" spell equivalent for every arcane level. 1/2 healing from cure also works.

Also, Ebberon's rules only said that "living constructs" get half healing from cure spells / positive energy. Normal constructs were out.

Minor Magic Mending!

Mending specifically says it doesn't work on constructs.

The rules also say Constructs can't be healed by the Cure type spells, yet this thread is about doing that :)

I thought you were saying it already worked by RAW.

Yeah, that's why I said it was my first idea. But 360 a day on average seems like too much healing for a 1 level dip to get a zero level spell. So I was looking for other ideas.

Maybe if I said it was only 1 point for each 10 minute casting of mending. Thats still 144 but he couldn't do anything else for 24 hours. Might not be too bad.

Instead of construct made warforged into humanoid (or monstrous human) with half-construct subtype resolving many of the issues.

Good point, I had missed that. I will see if he is interested.

Offer him the same visuals, effectively using the Half-Construct as a pseudo Living-Construct type. It'll quack like a half, and walk like a half, but it will look like a fully mechanical warforged.

It's a decent compromise that helped me.

Personaly I don't know why you wouldn't just use warforged but anyways, you could use the repair rules from the warforged that uses craft skills.

He didn't want to use the warforged as written in Ebberon since other races got powered up for PF. All the conversions he liked, I thought were overpowered.

I didn't remember that, I will have to look it up.

Page 46 of the ECS. There is also page 113 of UM. I have thought of converting the Ebberon characters myself but I am waiting for the actaul book. Maybe you like to have an outside party give it a try?
