I just uploaded 24 pictures of my Silent Tide adventure on the DwarvenForge boards.

As always - there is a spoiler warning. But I guess most GMs will have played / GMed this scenario. I had a lot of fun running it for my junior league.

Have fun - I hope you enjoy my impressions of the scenario.

Lol .. you make us 1-d map drawers look lame in comparison... keep up the work tho

I heard a lot of great feedback about the maps - and I don't think lame was ever mentioned. I hope at some stage to see some of them myself.

Different GMs have different styles. In the end the only bit that's important is that the players had fun and want to come back.

Building the scenarios up and getting a wow is probably what sometimes drives me. And my 'junior league' makes it very rewarding for me. It also helps that I can just send them 'playing in the house' between acts. That way they come back more concentrated for the next act - and I have the time to suprise them when they come back.

Wow, you go all out. I especially liked the granary and cliff.

Those are truly amazing, especially the granary. Now I need to get a second job to pay for those terrains!

awesome is the word.

Grand Lodge 2/5

one word: awesome!

Ah Thod, that's piddlespottingly awesome!

I love the granary the best...I could recognize every picture perfectly from the scenario.

Wow.

Well done.

I'll echo everyone else. Darn impressive. I've avoided 3d terrain in PFS due to sight lines - our tables are pretty high and the maps ate often small and congested, so I find the walls get in te way. I suppose it's a matter of choosing the right scenarios for it. Are you playing at a normal table or down lower on a coffee table?

This is one of my favourite adventures so I know it fairly well and the dioramas depict it brilliantly! They are like film sets. Excellent art direction! Well done.

Any more of this feedback and I will start to blush ...

It is interesting that the granary got such great feedback. Personally I felt that the sunflower seeds ruined it a little bit. Unfortunately we switched a few years from budgie food to a different mix and especially our cockatriel loves them now. Seems I'm my worst own critic here ...

Alex - I'm lucky that I have a collection that I slowly build up over 10 years. And I added in other scenery as well. Yes - I also use Paizo maps - but mainly for outdoor encounters.

Scott - I never experienced much of a problem with line of sight. We play at a normal dinner table. And in this adventure I had a group of 11 year olds playing. So their line of sight must be worse as for an adult. I guess you get used to it. You can always stand up for a more detailed look when a new act is revealed.

The only time I noticed player missing part of the scenery is if I place treasure in the dungeon. But you are supposed to make a perception check anyhow before I tell you ;)

Rob - no - this is not a diorama. This was a game :) it helps that I tend to have a 5-6 hour slot with my junior league. This includes lunch break. And me making a few sandwiches and other food or pizza in the oven. You will notice in the last act that I forgot to put my 'gaming' table cloth back on the table.

Thanks again everyone for your very kind feedback. I should post a few other scenarios I did lately but I don't think I managed to make them as impressive as the Silent Tide one.

Oddly enough, I disagree about the birdseed. It really makes that encounter look like the map, and should give the players a feel for why the area is difficult terrain.

Thod didn't say he disagreed with the seeds, only the sunflower seeds. (Which I think are too big indeed). So Thod, next time filter them out or buy a small batch without. ;-)

BTW: I love the scenery! (and the small seeds)

Grand Lodge 5/5 ****

Auke got it completely right. It is just the sunflower seeds that I felt didn't fit. I was more than happy with the look of all the other seeds.

And I did contemplate sorting out the sunflower seeds - for about 5 seconds. The seeds were a spontaneous idea. So for a diorama or if I would use it often I would sort them out / go shopping for the perfectly looking brand of bird seeds as Auke suggests.

But sometimes you have to make a decision as GM and rule - it's 'good enough' instead of stalling the game.

Great job Thod!

That was awesome! I love the grainary and the cliff the best! Excellent work!

Dark Archive 5/5

Nice. If i get a chance i will load a pic of my hirst arts version. I like the cliff on your terrain.

The Exchange

Nice work on this! It definitely inspires me to raise my game. We recently had a PFS gm in our area do the final chamber of Voices in the Void in 3d w/ a smoke machine. I thought that was great, seeing the while mod done here definitely makes the old 2d mats look boring in comparison. Keep up the good work, I hope to see more of your creations here in the future :)

The bird-seed in the grainery is awesome. Good job!

Lantern Lodge 3/5

Thanks for sharing the photos. Love your setup.

I sooo... wish that the game I'm in use 3d environments!
It really add to the feel of the game. (And that's my impression from just looking at your photos! :) )
