So I recently had a discussion about magic items and sundering with a player of mine. He said that per the rules you can only sunder peoples shields, weapons and armor. Saying that if he had Glasses of Arcane sight that they cannot be destroyed at all. Was just wondering if this is true or can they in fact be sundered?

I don't see why you technically couldn't sunder glasses with the combat maneuver, but thinking about someone specifically swinging a longsword so as to break someone's glasses and not actually deal damage to them, it seems a bit far-fetched. But hey, it's fantasy.
RAW(pp. 201, Ch8 of Core): "You can attempt to sunder an item held or worn by your opponent as part of an attack action in place of a melee attack." The Glasses of Arcane sight would be worn, so yes, they could be sundered.
The likes of dispel magic, antimagic field or Mordenkainen's Disjunction (yes, Wizards, I used his name :P) could suppress their effects temporarily, which would sidestep the whole sunder issue.

So it looks like the glasses, since they are being worn, can be sundered. However, I wonder if the glasses could be sundered if they were carried in a pouch. I would rule no, but you could sunder the pouch, as it is being worn. I might also rule, getting away from the rule as written, that half the damage would be dealt randomly to items in the pouch, but then I would also rule that half the damage would be dealt to the victims face in the former case with the glasses.

PRD: "Smashing an Object
Smashing a weapon or shield with a slashing or bludgeoning weapon is accomplished with the sunder combat maneuver. Smashing an object is like sundering a weapon or shield, except that your combat maneuver check is opposed by the object's AC. Generally, you can smash an object only with a bludgeoning or slashing weapon."
Given the very small size of glasses a penalty to hit would perhaps be in order perhaps combined with some non-lethal damage for the wearer as sundering the glasses without hurting the wearer seems far-fetched.
Also check out the break and shatter spells that effectively sunder items.
Hardness is 1 for glass, so the glasses are broken if you do 2 points of damage. Though with the sunder manouver you can choose to leave an object broken but not destroyed.
