I'm starting a halfling Summoner (Master Summoner) out at first level and I tend to like to plan out my characters well in advance, from 1st to 20th whether or not they will ever see those lofty heights.
What I WANT to do, given my limited number of evolution points is to create an eidolon who can serve two seperate distinct purposes. The first is to be a scout and a stand-in rogue that can use a wand in combat, and the second is to serve as a flying mount. Obviously I would use Transmogrify to change their evolutions back and forth... but is this even possible?
I have all the evolutions of the two 'builds' already figured out... but it seems that to gain the 'Mount' evolution an eidolon must be have the Serpent or Quadruped base form - while to weild a wand or use thieve's tools or whatever, they would need hands which would require the Biped base form. Switching him back and forth between small scout and medium mount won't be an issue, but switching him back and forth between biped and quadruped would be. Is this a correct interpretation?
I'm even willing to let the eidolon serve as a scout early on and then when I level up and he qualifies for the evolututions of a flying mount THEN make the change, even if its permanent... but I don't think that base forms can be changed.
Short of a house rule, is there anything that anyone can suggest which will allow me to get dual use out of the eidolon? Thanks in advance.
