Item creation question

Rules Questions

I had read in another thread that there is a maximum item price for magic items. I was just curious if anyone knew where it says that or if that rule even exists

If anything, it might represent a power limitation, since the more powerful the magic item, the higher the price. There is a point, and I haven't researched where, that magic items hit a high enough power level that they get into the realm of the epic, artifacts, etc.

Then again, that could just be a 3.5 relic floating around in my head.

There is no official rule for the maximum cost of a magic item. However, a reasonable guideline is that over 200,000 gp and you're likely looking at an Artifact, not a magic item. For instance, a +10 sword (the most allowed by the magic weapon rules) costs 200,300 gp.

Perhaps you were thinking of a maximum item price by level?

What about enchantments that add a monetary cost and not a +1 or above?

Dueling 14000gp
Transformative 10000gp

You could add those on top of the +10 weapon and have an alomost 225000gp weapon that still wouldn't be defined anywhere as an artifact.
