Monk feat to use Wisdom

Prerequisites: Monk
The Monk can use their Wisdom bonus instead of Strength bonus for To Hit *OR* Damage rolls with monk weapons or unarmed combat. The decision is made when the attack roll is made.

This isn't my idea at all - about 100 ppl have posted similar concepts. Does this twist work and is the feat acceptably powered? It's more versatile than finesse but Wisdom isn't as advantageous as Dex.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Doesn't seem too bad. I'd allow it. But then again I allowed firearms and I am really hating that decision.

I'm gonna derail my own thread here...

Why on the Firearms? What went wrong? I am considering the same as well and want to hear your experiences.

Then back to my thing afterwards? Okay? :)

The feat itself isn't broken, but when you add in the fact that there is a weapon enchantment (the name escapes me, sorry) that lets you use wisdom for damage, it gets a wee bit broken in my opinion.

It's a bit too consolidatory for my tastes. Will saves, to-hit, to-damage, and AC? Nope. Consolidating stats should be tread around lightly. Yes I think the same about dervish dance, but at least it has a useless feat prerequisite.

the weapon enchantment is guided.

Well, Intuitive Attack (from Book of Exalted Deeds) allows Wisdom to attack rolls and only requires a BAB of +1.

If you have to choose between attack or damage, that's not really a big deal, I think.

What level are you? Firearms are pretty weak later levels but are stronger lower levels.

I'd go as far to say it they could add it to attack and damage. My basis on this being that many people have stated weapon finesse should allow you to use your Dex bonus for damage as well.
