Wondrous item creation costs

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I am trying to get my head around the creation costs for "charges per day" wondrous items.

The example given is Boots of Teleportation, which costs 49,000 gp. The spell Teleportation is level 5, and the caster level is 9. I tried dividing 49,000 by 45 and I got 1088.9 gp. The number of charges per day (3) doesn't help to bring this to a sensible figure.

How is the cost of Boots of Teleportation calculated using the item creation guidelines?

Shouldn't it be (CL * SL * 1800) / (5/3)?

Items don't always follow the formula either. The first rule to pricing any item is to look at what other items are priced at. I suspect teleportation will be much more than the formula.

Thanks, Cheapy. You are right. It looks like the game designers rounded up the calculated cost of 48,600 gp to 49,000.

The statement "Divide by (5 divided by charges per day)" is not helpful. Why didn't they say "Multiply by the charges per day, and divide by 5"?

Because they like to be obtuse :D
