I have never been able to find the word count amount by using the preview button on paizo.
@Wraithstrike: IIRC, one of the common mishaps is forgetting to enter a title for the submission; if you don't, the wordcount doesn't show up. And that can be very confusing, because you get a light blue bar where the title should be, which looks fine graphic-wise but might not make it abundantly clear that there's supposed to be a title (and wordcount) there.
