Krathen Dane
Str 14 + 4 (belt) 18
Dex 11 (+1 level) 12
Con 11(+1 level) 12
Int 9
Wis 18
Cha 13 (+2 race) 15
Half Orc Cleric 7/Holy Vindicator 1
HP 52 (ugh, terrible rolls)
Skills - K(religion) +5, Perception +2, Heal +1
Travel (exploration) and Luck domains
Feats: Selective Channel, Extra Channel, Power Attack, Alignment Channel (evil)
EQ: +1 breastplate, +1 keen rapier, phylactery of positive channelling, Heavy steel shield +1, boots of striding and springing, ring of protection +1, sihedron medallion, amulet of natural armor +1, belt of str +4
I need to get my level 8 domain dimensional hop ability, so I'm 99% sure I'll be taking the level in cleric. The 1% is the chance of a level in Inquisitor. It would still allow me to get the domain ability, would set me back 1 bab (but judgment half takes care of that) and 1 caster level and channel level, which hurts. That said, I could really use the skill points and the perception as a class skill. The one level of inquisitor would get me +4 perception, +5 sense motive, +5 intimidate, +4 climb, and maybe another knowledge skill, plus monster lore bonus added to my k(religion). Also it sets me up for a possible second level of inquisitor to get cunning initiative and detect alignment at will.
Again though, I'm pretty sure I'm going cleric.
So what feat should I get? I can think of a couple useful unsexy ones, like toughness or step up. Maybe combat casting or weapon focus rapier? My role is basically tank, second melee combatant, and band-aid.
Also, for equipment, I do want to pump ac to really take advantage of vindicator's shield. I have about 12000 to spend, plus trade in value of what I have. Was thinking +2 full plate. Thoughts on that or other suggestions?
Thanks for advice in advance.

I seconds Toughness, especially if you are the tank. In fact, I'd even prefer a +2 Str/Dex/Con belt over the +4 Strength one (if that is an option).
Future useful feats could include Keen Scent (never be surprised!), Blind Fight (use Scent to find them and Blind Fight to hit them) and/or Shield Focus.
Razortusk is pretty great, too (especially if you have flat damage bonuses from spells or stigmata), but I wouldn't give it high priority for a tank.

Benefit: You gain +3 hit points. For every Hit Die you possess beyond 3, you gain an additional +1 hit point. If you have more than 3 Hit Dice, you gain +1 hit points whenever you gain a Hit Die (such as when you gain a level).
So its 9 extra HPs when you go to 9th level... that said, 9 HPs is equal to a WHOLE new hitdice worth of hitpoints for you. Its worth it.

i really don't know what to do with this character. and i really don't know what direction the OP intended, i assume it was built to be a healer/caster and that combat was an afterthough that came later. peer pressure?
battle clerics require specifically tailored builds and heavy amounts of planning. converting from a healing/casting specialist to a melee combat specialist pretty much requires a complete overhaul.
i would suggest any of the following options
option 1. seek permission to redo your character for your new focus
option 2. stick with the casting/channeling focus and forget about melee combat, even as an afterthought
option 3. look for a chance to make a new character that will make you more happy.

The idea was for him to be a secondary melee guy and also be the bandaid. We have a party of very non-optimized characters, and I knew those were going to be my roles. It's a tough role to fill, but I really wasn't looking for help in the form of "you should start your character over." I'm not unhappy with the character, I don't know where you got that. I took extra channel because our primary damage dealer is a reckless barb who got hurt a lot, and we needed the healing. The build isn't optimized but it's all of our first pathfinder characters and there isn't an optimizer in the bunch.

@OP
well, a night has passed and i thought of some ideas for your character
toughness is a good one. as has been said by many.
another idea is heavy armor proficiency
+2 full plate is only 5650 gold pieces if you do this
you can spend 750 per wand on another wand of cure light wounds.
for 7,900 gold pieces you can get +2 full plate and 3 fully charged wands of cure light wounds (to make healing out of battle easier) sell your old breast plate for 675 gold pieces.
i would sell the Sihedron Medallion for 1750 gold and spend 4,000 on a cloak of resistance +2.
leaving you 2,525 gold left to spend as you please. i would convert 2500 of that into 25 diamonds worth 100 gold pieces each. to serve either as portable finances, or restoration fodder.
9 extra hit points won't soak up a blow as well as 4ish extra points of AC and the ability to benefit from both, a better resistance bonus and a natural armor bonus at the same time. and runelords won't be able to scry you either.

Don't need to get heavy armor proficiency, already have it from being Holy Vindicator. The price for wands of CLW comes off the top of the group haul and the 12k I have to spend is after that. Price for restoration components come from the same. I did think about the cloak of resistance, and maybe trading the amulet of natural armor +1 for a +2. Not crazy about upgrading my ring of protection because it doesn't stack with shield of faith. But also, let's face it, we're playing a published module and how hard is it going to be to just come across a +2 ring of protection :)
