Actually, no. It's more about that if you don't consider rudeness a barrier to befriend someone, you won't be able to spot what others consider rude in your friends' behavior.
On the bright side, I see a beautiful friendship developing between the two of us. I just need to hound you a few times and we'll be arranging drinking nights in no time! ;)

And I can only wonder if you are being serious, or if that's a cruel joke (though I hope it's the former). Then again, I prefer making friends instead of enemies (though some friends of mine remind me that "you can't be pals with everyone) but that's an entirely different issue.

I actually read some of their old posts in the archives, and I didn't see this rudeness everyone speaks of in at least two guy's posts (one of them actually mentioned being trolled quite often around here without warning). So what you guys see is sort of beyond me anyway despite the fact that I've had some of the most caustic of posts thrown at me by them and also have been able to befriend a few of them as well. Anyway, they've already been kicked out and I doubt they want to come back since the welcome would definitely be a warm one judging from how you and Gorbacz are talking about them. No offense, of course.
Why do you not see the caustic remarks directed at you as being rude? Are they being polite? If the posts are caustic it sounds like they aren't. Or are they rude but you can overlook it or excuse it in some manner?

Just ask TOZ, that's how we became friends. After a few verbal sparrings on the forum we surprisingly found ourselves agreeing on some topic (no, it was not game balance, we still poke each other over that). It went uphill from there.
There are very few people on this forum that I ever found myself unable to converse with. Most of them don't hang around any longer, for one reason or another. Dunno what that says about me, maybe I'm more normal than I think.
We do not make enemies on the internet. Friends, sure, but not enemies. Instead, we make trolls, morons and all sorts of ignorable people. An enemy is someone who goes out of his way to hurt you. A troll or moron is someone who craps all over the place, spewing their generally toxic opinions anywhere possible.
In that case, my siblings (older brother and younger sister) most definitely count as enemies. Right now, thanks to them, I'll probably be forced to leave a 3.5e game that I've had fun playing in...

Anyway, back to the actual topic at hand. I trust that after this thread, some people were slightly enlightened if they bothered to read everything, and maybe, just maybe, will try to behave in a bit more civilized manner on these boards. Then again, I would NOT be surprised if this didn't happen, since I am still rather cynical at times.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to find a way to cheer myself up. I doubt the "why I love my life" thread helps when I was just reminded again that I live in a hellhole with people who actively enjoy making me feel miserable and remind me time and again how I can do nothing to hurt them back.

Ok this has been building up for awhile so I'm going to try and get it out in the politest and most respective way possible. I'm really tired of the rampant complaining, outright and borderline trolling going on. Just because paizo produces a product or idea you personally may not like doesn't mean you have to through a drama fit and yell how horrible it is. Yes I can understand how voicing your opinion in a respectable manner can be constructive feedback to the company. But this is not what I'm seeing for the most part, I see whining complaining, outright fallacies written in long form post to try and prove how one person on the internet is right and the whole company whose job it is to produce high quality gaming products, (who is itself made up of mostly gamers I might add) is wrong. I see people being either deliberately rude, or just not having the social maturity to able to reign in ones emotions enough to bring your point across in a constructive way. Yes I realize gaming is something we are all passionate about but you don't have to scream in panic at something you disagree with. Part of being an adult is controlling your emotions and how you portray yourself. Specifically I see this with the 4e/pathfinder edition wars (play what you like and leave the other alone). The rollplay vs roleplay debate (Play the way you like and leave others alone), and now the new pathfinder MMO ( Play what you like and leave others alone ). Frankly I think we could all benefit from a little emotional maturity when it comes to posting on these forums, there's no need to drive poor Ross/ Gary/ Liz/ whoever else crazy over having to delete so many inappropriate posts, a good rule of thumb is if you think your post could be inappropriate read it twice, take a breather then rewrite before posting. This community has so many great people and great ideas, we just need to be more socially responsible for our actions and words. Thanks I've said my piece.
I agree with the idea, but having these threads telling people to behave has never helped and never will. They are actually more common than the edition war threads which don't really show up that much anymore.

It really would be nice if everyone were more mature, but sometimes we don't act rationally when we're angry. I know I've certainly gotten mad enough to respond when I shouldn't.

I actually find the Paizo Boards more reasonable than most. Sure there are people who comment in the rudest way possible, but who can blame em?
With the anonymity of the internet and the fact that any of life's problems can be resolved by yelling at the faceless East Indian guy at the other end of the 800 number, it's no wonder that any social disagreement is settled by who can yell the LOUDEST!
Heck, just yesterday I was picking up the kids from school and a car was blocking the school exit. I asked the lady if she would mind pulling out so I could get by and she told me to go F myself!
People just need to be held more accountable for their words/actions.
