Would a witches hex show up under the affect of a detect magic spell?
If it does what school would it detect as?
Can it be detected using the spellcraft skill and if they can what is the DC?
Witch Hexes are Supernatural abilities, and do not normally show up to detect magic spells. The exception is hexes such as flight, which duplicate existing spells. (feather fall and later levitate and fly, in this case) In these circumstances, you would be able to detect the hex using detect magic, and it would show up as the same school as the spell it is mimicking.
Basically, if a hex says 'the witch can <something>, as per <spell>, then there's an aura equivalent to that spell. Otherwise, no aura. Evil eye, for instance, despite having an ongoing effect on an enemy, has no aura to detect.

Actually, detect magic can detect the effects of supernatural abilities. It doesn't say anywhere in the rules that detect magic or similar abilities (such as arcane sight) can't detect supernatural abilities. Description of SU abilities.
To clarify:
Supernatural abilities are magical (but not spell-like).
Detect magic detects magical auras.
The DC for detect magic to detect a non-spell effect is 15 + half caster level.
So for a witch's hex it would be DC 15 plus half his/her caster level.
