Rules Questions

Hello everyone, I have a question and I am hoping that some people will know the answer. The question is the following:

I have a Wildblooded Sorcerer (The Linnorm instead of Draconic). Now this "Archtype" gains an elemental spit attack, which replaces the claws. So does this mean that as I grow in levels, the spit would NOT get more powerful?

The Claws at level 5 become magical, etc. Does this apply to the spit?
Also Draconic Disciple gains a bite attack, does this mean I won't get the bite as I no longer have the claws?

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this and I hope someone will be able to help me.

Elemental attacks dont need to become magical, as they dont need to bypass DR/Magic. That's the intent of the improving claws. So I wouldn't worry about it either way

The spit does get more powerful, but not in the same way as the claws. It deals extra damage (+1 per 2 sorcerer levels) as you level up.

It does not get any of the bonuses the claws get (and as Weables pointed out, some of the claw bonuses wouldn't even matter for the spit).

Not sure about the dragon disciple bit, I haven't read that prestige class in a while.

Okay, the elemental spit powering makes sense. Thank-you Weables and Benchak the Nightstalker.

Now just for my question about the Dragon Bite...

The wording of the DD's ability Dragon Bite specifically states that when you use your bloodline to gain claws you gain a bite attack, so no, you would not gain a bite attack by RAW, not that you could use it even if you did as using you Linworm Elemental Spit power is a standard action, which precludes you from making a bite attack. However, all that does is nerf one DD ability, which while not necessarily a great ability, is still kind of messed up.

What I would do is ask your DM (or make the call if you are the DM) if you couldn't gain a bonus to your Elemental Spit damage equal to 1/2 your DD lvl. This is roughly equivalent to the additional dmg you would have seen from the bite attack between the base dmg (1d4), your 1.5 Str, and the energy boost (1d6) (~9-12 depending on Str, but adjusted down by 1/2 for the decreased miss chance from being a melee attack changed to a ranged touch attack).

Of course, that last part is all my own speculation and house-ruling. Take what you please.

Wow, thanks. That seems like a really nice idea.
