what animals can i use for lycanthrope?
in 3.5 you could use any meat eating animal, from a bear to a ape.
3.5 was a little less restrictive than that, but not much.
Pathfinder isn't restrictive at all. I can't find any limitations on what kind of animal can be used, other than size. Time for a were-giraffe!
...and don't forget wererabbits. After seeing Curse of the Wererabbit I can't look at a carrot without breaking into a cold sweat...and it puts Watership Down into a whole different genre :D
I suspect Watership Down is its own genre.
(upon noticing the actual topic) Oh, they took off the dampeners on lycanthropes? Boy, my PCs will sure be surprised when they meet their first were-cryohydra!

Well, OK; it still has to be an animal. But that doesn't stop a determined GM anyway.

I'm a flower -- rawr.

But that doesn't stop a determined GM anyway. Hey, that opens up a whole new realm of animated-object lycanthropes. I'm a were-brick. By day I build masonry but by night I am masonry! Or even worse-
The dreaded Were-cathedral!
were-yeti would be cool, but don't tell that Heathy guy.

No, NO, a Dire Were-Manbearpig. I now wish to make a homebrewed animal known as a pigbear for the sole purpose of having some PC's encounter the dreaded were-pigbear and see how long it takes them to catch on.
Oh NO! the dreaded WEREPLATYPUS!!!!
Rapthorn2ndform wrote: Oh NO! the dreaded WEREPLATYPUS!!!! It's just a platypu- PERRY THE PLATYPUS?!
Also: Were-Crabs. Were-Alpaca. Were-Sloth. Were-Pangolin (ooh, that one might actually be badass).
I will be a were-man. Normally I'm an average human, but during a full-moon I become... an even more average human!
