Title pretty much says it all. I'm under the impression that if a creature with SR comes into contact with lets say, forceful hand, that the caster rolls to beat the creature's SR. If unsuccessful, the creature can safely ignore the hand and pretty much the hand cannot effect it. Is this the correct interpretation or am I misreading? Thanks guys!

edit: Forceful hand refers to interposing hand, which allows spell resistance and whose effect is "a Large magic hand that appears between you and one opponent".
I agree with your reading. If the caster fails to beat the opponent's spell resistance, the hand has no effect on the opponent, who ignores its cover and its bull rush attempts for all purposes. Most likely this means that although the opponent might be able to see the hand's outline (as if he made his save against a figment), it's insubstantial to him and he can move or shoot through it without hindrance.
