Spoilers glitch

Just a heads up, if you guys are fixing something.

A bunch of our old spoilers, if they have the [ooc] tags in them are half unspoilering.

for example: Here.

This part used to be in the spoiler:
Cast Unnatural Lust on Alaric, object is Mel.
Will Save DC 15 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Sorry to bother, but it was odd.
And thank you!

It's not just spoilers. User aliases are throwing fits as well; all my PbP character profiles are in shambles.

Also posts randomly losing half their content.

And thank you Heaven's Agent for letting us know it's not just our group. :)

I've been noticing problems with:

- spoilers with ooc tags in them

- spoilers with quote tags in them, especially when followed by multiple paragraphs

- possibly, posts with multiple spoilers

A lot of content is unspoilering or, more often, simply disappearing.

And in spoilers without any extra tags as well -- in some or all multi-paragraph spoilers, every paragraph except the first seems to have vanished.

Yay for new, completely unexpected problems. We'll take a look.

OK, this should be fixed until the next time we break it without intending to.

Thank you so much!

Awesome.

As always, thank you very much for quick response to unexpected problems.

Thank you. It is extremely appreciated.

And we just broke it again without intending to. We should have it fixed (again) later this afternoon.

Fixed! ...for now... and hopefully for a lot longer than that. Sorry about the inconvenience everybody.

I have another glitch.

The OOC code is only making half of a post blue.
Here is a link to it.-->click me

Ok. So let me tell you what's going on here and I will tell you how you can get around it, sorta, until we can make something that may work better. So the BBCode stuff is all finitely complex. That is it doesn't have a lot in the way of logic to how it all comes together. Originally, this was not a big problem. If html was not well formed the browser didn't care, requiring it to do stuff that was not entirely predictable but probably more accurate for small things like this than needed complexity to. Now we've switched over to a stricter mode for our site. This means that all of the little errors that no one, especially your browser, cared about are now trying to come to a predictable consensus on how to render a page. This means things that are technically invalid are now being compensated for in a different, more predictable way. Specifically, since we want to make most text that has it's own line into a paragraph, we have to take the good with the bad. What that means is that any text with line breaks to another portion of text will have the paragraph, which is a block level element. Spans and other inline elements, which are generally used for formatting text, cannot extend outside of the block that they were created in.

What would need to happen, to make this work how you want is that we'd need to write a much more complex piece of code to format the text, which can be done and done well, but it's very time consuming. The way you want to get used to doing that is to make sure that if you want your OOC comments to extend onto multiple lines, then you can put tags around each of the lines. At least until we find a sufficient solution to overcome that problem. Ultimately, any solution we come up with, would compensate for formatting classes and include them in the block level for any blocks it extends across and then include spans within the blocks in which it begins and ends. We have some idea on that and will be thinking through the problem in the time going forward.

Sumatek aids Casvian in deciphering the meaning of the tracks, and they finally agree upon a conclusion. These treads are too heavy for the nimble drow, and the gait is too wide.

Casvian speaks "Orcs, maybe a half dozen of them went across this path from the left to the right. Not long ago either. It looks like the left path where they came from goes upward, while the other goes further south. "

The group awaits for someone to decide what to do. I don't usually prompt knowledge checks, but K(local) or k(nature) would be very helpful in this particular situation.

Casvian thinks to himself for a moment aka "knowledge check":

1d20+9

[ooc]That was knowledge nature, not local. I just realized I did not type[/ooc]

[ooc]"nature". Strict the orc knowledge from the record if you need to.[/ooc]

edit:The bb code is not cooperating. The entire post should be blue.

On an unrelated matter in this string of posts alone, I see that half the time the "Flag | List | Reply" labels are above the line which divides the poster's name from the post body. The other half, it is below -- and since it drops below it sort of merges with any text under the line, making it hard to read.

I'll check it when I get home tonight. You might click on the broken page icon in the address bar and see if that makes it better in compatibility mode. I know the site looked very broken in one or the other last night. Especially tabs.
