*correct Forum???

In what month will we find out a bit of info on the Adventure Path following Skull and Shackles?

Pathfinder #54, the final volume of Jade Regent is due in January, yes? Will anything, the theme or location, anything, be made known by then for AP #11?

. . . .

I don't like pirates, really -- and don't like high seas D&D. Not hot on the Shackles. I'm looking to cut my charter subscription following Jade Regent, half of which (the Tien Xia half) I really don't want anyway .... That is, I'm gonna cut my charter subscription just prior to Skull & Shackles unless the following AP takes place in a part of Golarion or is themed so that I REALLY want it (likely to happen) and won't want a 6 volume gap in my collection.

Well, if you read the product page for the AP, you will see that it is based primarily in the Shackles and takes place either on board ships or on the islands.

We mentioned at GenCon that the AP following Skull and Shackles is called The Shattered Star and it takes place in Varisia. We are viewing it as somewhat of a sequel to Rise of the Runelords. It will be very much back to fantasy central with Shattered Star. James Jacobs just finished the outline and it is very cool.

James Jacobs has said that the Shattered Star will be a gather the pieces of the artifact AP, you will have to gather the original sihedron for an anti runelord weapon. Or something like that.

Thanks Lisa (and leo).

Curious, is the Shattered Star pretty much like this (make note of my bold):

I've got three weeks to prepare the campaign; I generically know what I want to do but really want to hear some "gluey" ideas to help me connect the published stuff I'm using.

I'm taking most encounters from "Burnt Offerings," "The Skinsaw Murders," "Fortress of the Stone Giants" and maybe some bits of 'Hook Mountain Massacre" from RotRL and adding "Armageddon Echo" and the Set Piece from "Shadow in the Sky" in SD to create a Campaign that really shows off Varisia.

I'm cutting out the "Runelord Rising" and "Drow Starfall" plots and instead using a "Find the Pieces of Artifact X" plot.

Here's my early thinking so far -- I'd love any ideas, especially regarding the "Artifact X" I need to create and thus how the various adventures I'm "borrowing" from can be tied together.

NOTE: *Please do not include any info from CotCT -- I'm avoiding Spoilers!

A} I'll start in Sandpoint with Burnt Offerings: after the goblin menace the PCs will find the Campaign MacGuffin.

B} That will lead them to Riddleport where they will find something in that dilapidated House of Sarenrae that's really the hideout for some bad guys (see AP# 13, Set Piece). Fom there they will gain "some knowledge" -- this is a KEY, critical part of the Campaign -- and they can choose where to go next, from the following:

C} Celwynvian and many of the encounters in The Armageddon Echo. They'll get an Artifact piece here.

D} The Devil's Platter and farmlands presented in The Skinsaw Murders, I'll likey put a greater distance between this geographic feature and Sandpoint. Another piece is here.

E} The Storval Plateau to deal with Mokmurian and such in Fortress of the Stone Giants. Let's kill Mokmorian to get another piece.

F} Maybe some ogrish parts of Hook Mountain Massacre -- I'm not sure if that level of disturbing material will be acceptable for this group, yet.

G} And also I'd like something In Ilsurian and Korvosa. Anything not from CotCT here??? Society Scenarios maybe?

As it turned out, the Artifact X that I created was pieces of a starfall that could be used to create a Sihedron Rune.

It was a really fun summer Campaign.

I swear to god it's uncanny,
Jacobs and I have the same DM mind -- though much more in the 90s than recently. (Not that find-Artifact-X is novel, but honestly, so many of our ideas are the same.)

"Thunder Under Needle Mountain" (with my earthquakes, deep gnomes & ilithids)
"Twilight's Last Gleaming" (pretty much the whole thing, wierd)
"Headless" (This was where I first realized it was the same guy; I swear to god I ran this thing verbatim before it was published!)
"Porphyry House Horror" (by now I was looking for similarities, not surprising I found some here. Hmmmm)
"Burnt Offerings" (exactly my gremlins-attack adventure from High School w/out the Japanese NPC & glassworks.)
"Souls for Smuggler's Shiv (ayup, pretty much the whole thing)
and now the frame for Shattered Star.

All of these I ran, some more than others, before I ever saw them published. "Headless," "Twilight's Last Gleaming" and "Souls for Smugglers Shiv" are the three that are most identicle to my home design adventuers.

Sometimes I wonder if Jacobs stole the idea for that Whale-Epic Druid adventure from someone else because it was so different from any adventure I had ever done.

I'm interested to find out which deities will be featured in #62 and #65, since the core deities will all have received articles by the end of Skull & Shackles :)

As evidenced by my avatar, I'd love to see an article on Groetus.

Since there has been recent demonic activity in the Sandpoint region, I'd like a nice counterbalance article, such as an aasimar article like the tiefling one in issue #25. You could do it along with an Empyreal Lords article and tie into Magnimar.

I'd also like a visit to Windsong Abbey, partly because of fond memories of "The Ulrich Monastery."

Other Varisian stuff that'd be neat to include:

  • The decennial grand moot of the Spire clan at Spindlehorn.
  • The Calvitirium, maybe with vikings and pirates at Gruankus.
  • The Spire of Lemriss.
