Recruiting for a PBP adventure path -- help decide which one

Recruitment

Like the subject line says, I'm thinking of starting to run a second adventure path on the Paizo boards, but after doing a lot of research am having trouble trying to decide which one looks best.

I'm already running a Kingmaker campaign and am interested in running something I'm not already in the midst of. I'm also not very interested in Council of Thieves, and not likely to run that.

Legacy of Fire and then Serpent's Skull seem of the most interest to me, though I see a lot of people frustrated with later chapters in the latter. I'd also consider Skull & Shackles, though obviously that's not out yet so I'd be running it before all six chapters are finished...

I'll be taking six players. I'll officially start recruitment and let it run once enough people have chimed in to give me some idea of what I'll be running. You don't need to sketch out characters yet -- obviously what we play can affect that -- but if you're excited and want to, it'll be core races; classes from Core, APG and UM (but not UC); 2d6+6 for stats...

I've been trying to get in a LoF game for awhile, but they keep dying out. I have an Ustalovan witch I've been toying with. She has a personal vendetta against the church of Saranrae for some perceived persecution, so at first I thought not much chance she'd show up in that Path, and then I was thinking, that's EXACTLY where she'd go!!

Shadow Lodge

I am currently running Serpent's Skull and only have the first two modules. I will have to look into what you mean about the latter modules. They may need a little tweaking. ;)

As for what AP I would like to get into next, I am up for anything. I wish to try them all (either running or playing), as from what I have seen from the ones online they are all great stories of adventure.

Legacy of Fire sounds good from the fluff to me. Also Curse of the Crimson Throne sounds appealing. An urban based adventure (so the group can have their very on HQ maybe, or own their own inn?) - with a mystery thrown in.

My votes would be Legacy of Fire first and then Curse of the Crimson Throne.

The Exchange

It hasn't been mentioned yet, but a Carrion Crown could be nice. I've been through a small portion of the first one, and that really piqued my interest. That's where my vote goes.

Erik Freund wrote a scathing review of chapter 3, which he says was so bad it ruins the rest of the AP. It's a shame, since it sounds really cool to me otherwise. From the sounds of it, I think the fix is fairly easy (creating new challenges/ways to pacify each district), but could take some time.

Grand Lodge

How about Jade Regent? Or older stuff like Shackled City or Savage Tide? I suggest passing on RotRL until the hardbound compilation comes out, though.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I would consider Jade Regent, though I'm not super thrilled with the Eastern adventures.

Will also consider the old Dungeon Paths. I think I have all three of them in entirety, but it could mean a slightly slower progress as I won't have pdfs to use when I'm at work.

Shadow Lodge

Thanks for the links it's good to know, and I'll check them out.

- Also if we go old school I vote for Savage Tide. Only got to play the first one.

Scarab Sages

All of them sound interesting. My personal interests are most piqued by Second Darkness and Carrion Crown.

I be interested. Haven t Tried Legacy of Fire or Shackled City or Savage Tide. So those be my top choices

I think a Second Darkness or Jade Regent might be fun. Second Darkness because not many of those seem to be around and Jade Regent as something rather different, as the PCs are focusing on helping a NPC.

I have an alchemist built for the Jade Regent (the PbP got barely got through two encounters before falling apart), although I've been very interested in playing through the Carrion Crown AP.

I'm interested. I have already applied for a Jade Regent though odds are I might not get in with 25 applicants. I am already in SS and LoF. Carrion Crown is one I never even got to try. I might put forth a Monk or Cavalier(I know Cavaliers dont fit into most apps but I gots a plan fer him. Though I may also go with a Ranger instead)

To clarify. I am voting for Carrion Crown.

I would love to try Shackled City or Savage Tide.

Shadow Lodge

I would vote for the following:

1. Legacy of Fire: I'd enjoy playing a gnome Oracle of Lore (perhaps a Seer) who arrives in Katapesh, claiming to be an Enlightened Avatar of some-random-god-from-the-Vudran-Impossible-Kingdoms come to spread his divine wisdom.

2. Carrion Crown: I have a half-elf healer-style witch (Valeska) who was in Kingmaker who could easily be reskinned and rebuilt for Carrion Crown. She's been often described as a "raven witch with a half-elf familiar."

Legacy of Fire interests me the most right now.

Quick roll...
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11

Yeah, that's my luck.

Jade Regent appears to be a popular one and I'd certainly like to try it out.

Dotting for interest. As one of the players in the Kingmaker game i can testify that Motteditor is a very good GM, especially with making the NPCs come to life.

Let me know if you have any particular interest, Patrik. Treshiell's definitely one of my favorites... (And thanks for the kind comments.)

Feel free to cast a vote, Azure, as we don't seem to have reached a consensus yet.

I'm looking into Savage Tide now (I don't seem to have the last two chapters, but I would want to double check before declaring it a no-go since I assume I just missed them in the stack of magazines).

Shackled City's also a little tempting -- I got through about a third of it with my RL group before we gave it up, so I know it pretty well. I'd want to do some serious trimming to a few ridiculously overlarge dungeons, though.

So far, looks like the tally is as follows:
Legacy of Fire -- 4
Curse of the Crimson Throne -- 1
Carrion Crown -- 5
Second Darkness -- 2
Jade Regent -- 4
Shackled City -- 3
Savage Tide -- 4

If recruiting is still open, I'd love to play in a Carrion Crown game.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I still haven't decided what I'm going to run, so I think technically recruiting hasn't even started yet. : ) Please feel free to keep casting votes. I'll take a look at Carrion Crown and see what I think of it, since it's also getting a lot of interest.

Dark Archive

I am Interested. Top three Carrion Crown, Shackled City, Legacy of Fire.

I don't see Rise of the Rune Lords on the list.

Sovereign Court

Votes are for Curse of the Crimson Throne 1st and Jade Regent 2nd.

Consider my interest dotted. My top three would be Savage Tide, Rise of the Runelords, and Jade Reagent. Although Carrion Crown would be a close runner-up.

My vote(s) go to Curse of the Crimson Throne, Savage Tide, Second Darkness and Jade Regent. Somewhat in that order.

I vote for Legacy of Fire. I've played the first part, but the games keep dying on me. Savage Tide would be interesting as well.

My votes
Jade Regent (I have not played)
Curse of the Crimson Throne (got a small piece of it.)
Rise of the Rune Lords (I have not played)
Shackled City (I have not played)
Kingmaker (I have not played) I would like to include, but is unselectable

I vote Second Darkness as well. Just don't see games of that very often.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

OK, updated tally. I'll probably let this run through the weekend and see if there's any more consensus, since it seems to still be pretty split so far:

Jade Regent -- 8
Carrion Crown -- 7
Savage Tide -- 6
Legacy of Fire -- 6
Shackled City -- 5
Curse of the Crimson Throne -- 4
Second Darkness -- 4
Rise of the Runelords -- 2

At this point, I'm probably leaning toward Jade Regent, Savage Tide*, Legacy of Fire and Shackled City. While it would be nice not to need to do any conversions with Carrion Crown, I'm just not feeling the horror aspects of the Adventure Path.

* I've triple checked, and I seem to be missing the final chapter of Savage Tide. Still, the first half/two-thirds looks pretty strong to me, and I figure I can just cut it a little short/modify the last installment to make it a suitable finish. I'm assuming that won't turn too many people off.

Jade Regent is a fun path (playing it in a PBP right now), but I've never yet seen a recruitment for Shackled City, and very few for Savage Tide, LoF or Second Darkness. I'd like to add a vote for Shackled City. I'm guessing the city of Cauldron would be placed somewhere in the wastelands of Varisia?

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I see more people suggesting Sargava and/or Shackles, as it's supposed to be tropical (or converting some of the jungle/tropics flavor to more northern flavors, which is what I did when I played it for my RL group). I'd probably do a little research on that if that's what we go with, as my Golarion knowledge isn't super strong (my RL group is still playing in the Realms).

In this case I will change my vote to Legacy of Fire, Shackled city or Savage Tide. Hardly anyone runs these and I would like to see how they go.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Having given it a lot of thought, I think I'll be running Savage Tide. Sounds like it'll be a popular choice and the first part especially looks like it's got a great mix of role-playing and roll-playing. Maybe I'll be able to find the final installment at a LCS but if not, I'll make something up when we get there.

I'll put up a formal recruitment thread, with some campaign traits to pick from and formal character creation notes, as soon as I can (hopefully tonight), but I figured people could start refinining some character ideas in the meantime.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

The recruitment thread is up. Have at it all, and thanks for your help on deciding. I don't think I would've picked Savage Tide on my own, but I'm pretty excited about it now.
