Horseshoes of speed

Are the horseshoes only wearable by a horse? Or do other mounts eligible?

Well a horseshoe should be wearable by any animal with a similarly shaped hoof. A bull or a goat or a camel should easily be able to wear a horseshoe sized for them. Of course a riding dog would not be able to benefit, though there is no reason you couldn't mock up the same kind of magical item for a dog.

I had "Bearbands of Speed" on an enemy Cavalier's bear mount. Side note: the party's Druid actually claimed them for when he Wild Shapes. Not even kidding.

camels don't have hooves, they have pads.

Many non-equine animals have split hooves which standard horseshoes will not work on, but the idea that they would work fine is applicable. You'd have to make a special design for goats or something, I believe.

I look at it this way. Magical arms and armor resize one size category normally (it just occured to me that im not 100% sure for pathfinder, its a 3.5 thing for sure at least). I would think items like this could resize a bit to fit the various hoof shapes

Ok...what would be legal in Pathfinder Society play? If I was a DM, I'd allow specialized x of speed for bears, dolphins, etc. But apparently opinion varies from DM to DM. Which is very difficult, as PFS doesn't allow changing bought items from game to game.

It's a horseshoe. It goes on a horse, or something very close to a horse. So by art in the Bestiary, you could put them on centaurs, nightmares, and unicorns. Otherwise, no horseshoes on cows, and definitely none on camels.

Yes, you can put shoes on a cow, but the item as it stands is for horses, and it's not any more unfair than cyclopes being unable to use eyes of charming.

magic armor and weapons dont resize. not in pf or 3.5

What would be the argument for not being able to shoe a cow?

Craft Wondrous Item: Xshoes of Speed.

wow. Well thank you. I dont know why I thought they did. maybe it was a houserule as I was learning that I took as fact. Learn something new every day.

Carry on!

I think you were thinking of rings cloaks boots etc. Those do resize.

Sadly, I wasnt. When I was learning 3.5 the game I played in must have had a houserule or something, or was simply doing it wrong. I was always under the impression that magical weapons and armor woulld resize one size category for new users.

Sure makes fighting ogres less pleasant, lol
