The Exchange

Been to d20pfsrd.com lately? Lot's of neat new features (and some really cool ones coming REALLY SOON!)

Note: All of these generators use official Pathfinder information to determine their results.

Here's a few of the more recent ones (all compliments of Brian Dunn of dxContent.com!)

Random Ability Score Generator
Random Weather Generator
Random Intelligent Magic Item Generator
Random Magic Weapon Generator
Random Potion Generator
Random Scroll Generator
Random Encounter Generator (Dungeon: Low Level)
Random Encounter Generator (Dungeon: Mid Level)
Random Encounter Generator (Dungeon: High Level)
Random Encounter Generator (Dangerous City)
Random Encounter Generator (Forest)
Random Encounter Generator (Ruined City)
Random Encounter Generator (Mountain)
Random Encounter Generator (Ocean)
Random Encounter Generator (Underground)
Random Encounter Generator (Savannah)
Random Encounter Generator (Swamp)
Random Encounter Generator (Desert)
Random Encounter Generator (Jungle)

Stop on by and see what we've got to offer! More new monsters almost every day. New classes from Paizo and 3rd Party publishers once or twice a week. Tell your friends! Tell yo' momma!

I'd really like a Treasure Generator and an equipment generator by class/level. I have seem some but they're all flawed.

For random treasure we have this page.

For random equipment, I think you're currently out of luck unfortunately.

Sovereign Court

Cool!

The weather generator doesn't seem to be working. You click on generate and it brings you to an options menu. Once you hit ok it doesn't do anything.

Are these generators going to be more robust in the future? The random monster generators are set to a specific CR. Obviously one would want to be able to set whatever CR they desire.

It worked for me...

The generators are built using the actual random encounter tables provided by Paizo. We COULD build additional ones but that would be more involved simply because we'd have to determine the contents of the table and the odds of encountering that creature etc. These were fast and easy simply because the data already existed.

On a sidenote, ANYONE can create random generators just like these by going to dxContent.com and playing around. Brian built a very handy and powerful resource allowing ANYONE to create these generators and then even share them. So if you, or anyone else, wanted to whip up more generators and then if you think they'd be good additions to the site just let us know!

More New Features

As soon as the new PRD went live we were immediately jealous. It had accomplished something we thought we couldn't do, which is allow for filtering of content based on source. Well lo and behold along comes a smart dude like x93edwards and all of a sudden we're in business.

We don't have checkboxes (yet) but that's coming soon. What we DO have right now though are pretty advanced filter-able tables for the Combat Feats and General Feats.

Check them out:

Combat Feats
General Feats

The advantage of this approach is if you want to see all feats from Ultimate Combat, select UC from the dropdown in the source column. If you want to see every combat feat that mentions "shield" in the benefit field, just enter "shield" and hit enter. If you want to see any entry that includes weapon OR shield, just enter "weapon|shield" and hit enter.

Note that this will allow a GM to say "You can pick any feat from these sources" and then list them. The players then check the boxes for those sources and pick away. If the GM wants to allow all Super Genius Games books, he'll be able to check the box "Super Genius Games" and those will display as well.

Features we anticipate in the near future:

  • Filterable spells based on sourcebook/class/descriptor
  • Filterable traits based on type (race/region/faith, etc.)
  • Filterable magic items or equipment based on source/type etc.

The Exchange

So we've had the Combat Feats and General Feats filter features up for about a week now. Does anyone have any comments pro or con on them? How do you like them? See previous post for links if you haven't seen them yet.

Sidenote: checkboxes for sources are being worked on now
