I don't see why it wouldn't be, at 7th level you can be immune to acid, cold, electricity, fir or sonic for the duration of the spell. or at 5th you can use to add a D6 of acid, cold electricity or fire damage to all attacks. Being able to choose these types of immunities/damages at the time of casting is pretty damn powerful
and this is just a quick flip though, basically those spells are awesome for the evolutions that are situational

Is the Evolution Surge useful for a Synthesist's eidolon?
+8 to whatever skill you want whenever you need it. Additional movement options for underwater/air/underground or detection options, tremor sense/scent.
Its fairly versitile for a 2nd level spell. Of course the summoner is absolutely loaded with useful 2nd level spells.

Check the faq. Synthesist's can't take the skilled evolution. Other than that, it is a very useful spell.

The FAQ does talk about Synthesis Summoners, but it does not say that. At least not any more. Its definitely not in any of the links.
