My character is a level 4 Rogue Charlatan. She has minor magic (prestidigitation) and major magic (charm person), Dodge, Mobility, and Catch-Off Guard (taken after she had to stab a would-be rapist in the head with a quill pen from her night-stand). Her key ability scores are Charisma and Intelligence (20 and 17 respectively; rolled 2d6+6 method). Her attractiveness (1d20 roll) is a 17. Her MO is to stroll into town (preferably cities), flirt with the rich men, gather info, swindle local businesses, start rumors about herself, and leave town (or the city!) with a heavier purse than she entered with, and hopefully with a pretty new dress and matching [accessory] to boot.
I am looking into feat options and potentially multiclassing into Witch or Sorcerer. I'm aware that Sorcerer is probably the better option as far as stat optimization goes, but I really like the flavor of the Witch, as well, having a cat or a fox follow her around and hexes...
She avoids combat, but understands that she may have to fight her way out of a situation she might have fallen into as a result of failure to keep her stories straight.
Any advice?

I'd suggest a sorcerer with the fey bloodline. Bonus to compulsion and some nice bloodline powers for a sneaky type. Biggest problem with going into either class is loss of skill points.
If you can pull from 3.5 sources you may want to look into the beguiler (PHB II). It is like a mix of rogue (no real combat ability) and an enchantment/illusion caster. Loads of fun.

Bard may be a good option for you, since it's charisma based, allows you to cast spells in light armor, and will continue to give you decent fighting ability and skill points.
If you're interested in switching to Witch, Wizard, or Sorcerer, don't worry too much about which attribute you use, a 17 is perfectly fine for a Witch or Wizard. On the other hand, if it's the familiar that's attracting you, a Sorcerer can get a familiar by choosing the Arcane bloodline.
- Bard = No familiar, but keeps armor, fighting, skill points, and hit points similar to a Rogue.
- Sorcerer = Charisma based spellcasting, get a few arcane spells and use them a lot.
- Witch = Hexes and a mix of divine and arcane type magics
- Wizard = Best variety of arcane spells

First Advanced Talent should be rumor-monger. Its absolutely awesome.
Actually, I made an error reading over my sheet. I listed Major Magic (charm person) as her 2nd rogue talent, but she actually took Rumormonger as her 2nd rogue talent. Major Magic was going to be the 2nd one before Ultimate Combat came out. We made character revisions, and that was one of the changes; I just forgot to remove it. Thanks for bringing it up, or I would have been "cheating!"
Yes. Rumormonger is amazing. First time she got to use it, I burned a hero point before the roll for the +8. Got a 37 total. The rumor was all over town in just two days. Epic fun ensued.
Bard actually sounds like a great idea... is there a bard archetype that allows for a familiar? A really smart cat seems like a good fit for her.

Charlatans get Rumormonger instead of Trap Sense at 3rd level, so that wouldn't be taking up one of your Rogue Talents. Since it's an Advanced Talent, you wouldn't have been able to take it until 10th level anyway, if Charlatan hadn't given it to you...

Ah, quite!
It's been, literally, since UC came out that I got to play this character and she had just reached level 4, so I'm a little bit spotty about what her features are now.
I feel like she's pretty well "optimized" for her role thus far (and she has killed more enemies than her gunslinger companion, truth be told). The nature of the campaign she is in is not very serious, so I feel like I have to room to make sub-optimal choices in the interest of having more fun and/or just having an interesting combination of talents.
