Does anyone else find the term RP weird?

This is really just an aesthetic issue and not at all important, but I really don't like the term RP for racial point as I already use RP quite often as shorthand for RolePlay...

It throws me off a little as well until it's put into context.

Perhaps renaming it to RBP for Racial Build Points would work better.

I already prefer the term Build Points. It's much more descriptive about what it does and it doesn't invade on a term that I already use...

RP threw me off a bit. Something like BP would be preferable.

I'd say to keep the prefix for "Racial" before "Build Points", just in case a Class guide comes out later...

I've never used RP as a shorthand for "role-playing", so it doesn't bother me.

Similarly I don't use PG as a shorthand for "playing games", so movies that are rated PG don't bother me either.

I would prefer either BP (Build Points) or DP (Development Points). RP should be rserved for Resource/Regency points in the realm rules comming in the far future of Pathfinder.

Species Points?

Or the very least. Just use RC. I could deal with RC. Racial Cost, it still sounds a lot better.

+1 to this thread. I would like the name changed to something else.

Grand Lodge

Agree.

I like RBP or DP, since BP is already currency for the Kingmaker kingdom rules.

In the other hand, the Race Points allow you to say: "my race provide 63% more RP than yours!"

When I started reading these threads I was really confused at first.

Should be RDP or RCP for Racial Design Points or Racial Creation Points, just to avoid confusion.

Add my voice to the chorus. I'd prefer a different term than "rp" to describe this system.

I find it weird too. So chances are kinda good we'll change it. I'm open to suggestions, though! (As long as it's a 2 letter abbreviation—the game has 2 too many 3 letter abbreviations already!)

How about Racial Cost? RC; 2 letters and it accurately describes the system. :3

I completely agree with this. Way too confusing.
I like Racial Cost.

I like BP.

Also, there is nothing wrong with them sharing the same name as Kingmaker's build points as far as I'm concerned as they are still used for building something. What's more, the two are unlikely to cross in the same game and even less likely to cause confusion (it's a rare conversation where one party is talking about buildings and the other is talking about races).

"No, I mean a human costs 10 CP."

"So I can get ten for one gold piece?"

Have you considered BIO-E?

Sure why not... then instead of Standard/Advanced/Monstrous we can have Silver/Gold/Platinum races :-p

I like RC for Racial Cost.

That's a pretty good point. Given that race-building is entirely a metagame concept (there's never going to be spells like "You gain one temporary race point" or feats like "Extra Race Points"), sharing the term with Kingdom rules shouldn't provide any confusion. The one circumstance where they might overlap is if a GM is creating a city/kingdom using those rules, and a new race to populate it using these... but in that circumstance the GM ought to be able to keep the two apart :p

I'd still prefer RBP, but for a two-letter abbreviation, BP has my vote.
