Dam: Great Sword w / Furious Focus and 2HF from APG?

Rules Questions

New player. I have a 3rd level Human Fighter using a Greatsword w/ the following stats:

Str: 20
Dex: 13
Con: 14
Int: 11
Wis: 11
Cha: 6

Masterwork Great Sword

Feats: Weapon Focus (Great Sword), Power Attack, Cleave, Furious Focus, Toughness

Assuming I Charge at the start of my turn and make a successful hit... what is the range (min to max) of my damage? My DM also allowed me to take the 2HF specialty from the Advanced Player Guide. At 3rd I double my strength bonus when using a 2 handed weapon. How does this damage stack with Furious Focus?

Thanks TS

Well, 2d6 + 2H Str (+7) + Power attack (+6 for 2H weapon) = Minimum of 15 Minimum, and 25 Maximum, unless I am missing something.

thought that doesn't include the rules for 2HF. That is without them. Increase each by 7 with that ruled included. So 22-32

Well, 2d6 + 2H Str (+7) + Power attack (+6 for 2H weapon) = Minimum of 15 Minimum, and 25 Maximum, unless I am missing something.

Except the Archtype doesn`t double the 2-handed STR dmg (1.5x STR bonus), it doubles the STR bonus, so the net difference is 2x STR bonus vs. 1.5 STR bonus = +1/2 STR bonus, meaning he gains only 3 dmg in this case (multiply on Crit).

So... 18-28 normal hits, 36-56 on a Crit. basically, barely above wimp level. ;-)

Furious Focus does absolutely nothing in regards to damage, so there isn`t any way it could `stack` with other damage bonuses... It only removes the attack penalty from Power Attack (which affects damage in the sense that you are more likely to hit and confirm your crits, but it doesn`t change damage direcly)

It doubles your strength bonus, instead of 1.5. So you are looking at +10 (+5x2), not +14 ( (+5x1.5) x2) so 2d6 + 10 + 6 = 18 - 28

edit: ninja'd!

Thanks guys... clears up all of that. LOVING the 2HF focus in the APG! With Charge... I added up a +11 to hit (+5 str * +3 bab * +2 charge * +1 MW Weapon) when I charged against our Boss opponent tonight.

Made the DM blink when I rolled the confirmed crit damage. 54 points. *evil grin* Thought I was doing something wrong. 1st time using him (Savage) at 3rd level.

Took him out with the 2 other players looking at each other like... 'What the HELL just happened?!?' They are 2nd level (Paladin & Wizard) Bad guy's henchmen ran away after he was cut in half.

I'll print this out for the DM and players next weekend.

Liberty's Edge

Can easily chop his allies to neg from full-up in one hit, and has a +1 will save at 3rd level...

...yikes.

Murderous command will really make this characters weakness apparent. And its only a first level spell.

I'm thinking Improved Initiative will make this a more effective attack. Struggling with my next FEAT pick @ 4th level.

Iron Will should be your first priority, followed swiftly by Improved Iron Will.

Thnaks... should I put my ability bonus in DEX? This will at least give me a +2 to my initiative.

Then again.. perhaps wisdom if I get your direction.

Well, one failed willl save and you'll be doing all that damage for the other side. Murderous Command is a level 1 Cleric spell (in Ultimate Magic). Fail that save and you'll slice and dice your nearest ally. And that's just one spell of many that can change your mind for you...

Shouldn't he only be getting +3 Power Attack dmg at level 3? Instead of the +6 some people listed.

You are correct. It should be a +3.

Liberty's Edge

Bump WIS and multiclass barbarian at 4th, then multiclass monk [martial artist archtype] at 5th (and take Iron Will at 5th). Buy a +2 Cloak of Resistance before upgrading your weapon. -- These all get your will save up +9 in just two levels.
