Help with character for Kingmaker AP

Advice

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to ask for some help for our kingmaker campaign. My wife cant choose what to play in that campaign. I will give you the info I have:

Other players/classes:
- Monk or ranger
- Wizard
- Druid
- Cleric

So I was thinking about a fighter/paladin/Cavalier to her since I would expect a lot of possibility for horse riding. And since we could use a tank..

For her rolls(yes she had the highest rolls :( ):
17
16
15
15
13
8

How would you suggest she should use these?

Thank you a lot,

Lies & Dimitri

You could make a great Paladin with those stats. If you're going mounted, I suggest a small-sized race, so I'm thinking gnome.

Str 15 (17-2)
Dex 15
Con 18
Int 13
Wis 8
Cha 17 (15+2)

The great thing about riding dogs is they fit anywhere a medium character does, and frankly they're easier to manage than a large animal.

The great thing about having dexterity this high is you can use TWF for a nice sword and board paladin. And I like how the constitution is off the charts.

Otherwise, you could always just make an awesome Fighter. Skip mounted, be a human:

Str 19 (17+2)
Dex 15
Con 16
Int 13
Wis 15
Cha 8

Could get a great maneuver fighter out of this. Qualifies for combat expertise and will get three AoOs with combat reflexes. All increases into strength for this one.

Having played Kingmaker i have to say the following:
Yes kingmaker is quite mount friendly and you probably going to be able to use your mount even in the dungeons at the end of each book but be prepared to leave your mount out a few times.

Tank it up, pally style:

Str: 19
Int: 13
Wis: 8
Dex: 15
Con: 15
Chr: 16

Given the need for a tank and that kingmaker rewards a high Cha, make the most survivable melee monster. High damage, lovable, lots of AC and HP, enough skill points for handle animal, ride, diplomacy, and human bonus for perception. Low Wis is compensated by Chr bonus to all saves. Grab a lance and become a spirited charge master.

I agree. Go Paladin all the way. She can take some of the mounted feats, there are places where a lance and ride-by attack will be very potent. And, she'll get to be the king! (or queen, as the case may be).

Grand Lodge

I have both a cavalier and a rogue with the Scout alternate class features. Both have worked great in the Kingmaker Campaign and would be a great addition to your group.

Silver Crusade

Paladin or Cavalier work very well. Paladin dose work a little better becous of the need for cha related skills in the AP.

My Choice qould be a beast rider rider archetype cavalier: The offensive boost for the whole party, using the teamwork feats and banner might be slightly more useful than the healing abilities of the paladin. The cavalier is not as feat starved as the paladin and it gets more skill ranks per lvl. A good animal companio would be a tiger or maybe a bear for a medium sized beast rider. (Although the Tiger would be more powerful, I think the bear fits better into the setting)
