Ok, so us east coasters just experienced an earthquake. Now we understand what it feels like.
Be on guard for aftershocks. They can be as severe as the main event.
Some folks felt the earth shaking down here in North Georgia.

Felt it up here in Canada - Building shook. That was weird
NC Mountains jiggled a little bit in Asheville NC.
Felt it here in VA Beach. That was definitely one of the stranger things I've been through.
Felt it here in Ohio.
(countdown to west coasters calling us wimps...)
Someone in the office up here in Michigan saw his screen wobbling. I sit 15 feet away from him and felt and saw nothing.

I know, right? My mom freaked out.
Edgar Lamoureux wrote: I know, right? My mom freaked out. Yeah. Way worse than the earthquake. The 17 texts of "Are you guys OK?!?!" Sigh. (Virginia Beach as well).

Was anyone in their FLGS at the time?
Felt it here too in Northern VA - about 20-30 seconds or so.

Pretty exciting ride here in Charlottesville, VA. About 20 miles from epicenter in Louisa Co.

I was walking along Rte. 27. Didn't notice a thing, found out when I turned on the computer. I guess we've been bad, with Hurricane Irene coming this weekend :)
Well, that was weird. Our building gave a good shake. They evacuated for a bit. Then back to work.
My kid's daycare didn't feel a thing.
My wife felt it in her office in Manchester NH. I work about 10 miles south of her and didn't feel a thing.
I was at coney Island in Brooklyn at the time and I felt nothing. My wife felt it at our home in Brooklyn and is still freaking out.
That was an earthquake? I'm from California and can say that. (Norfolk, VA here.)
Felt it in northern NJ.
Also a Californian here. Went through Coalinga, Loma Prieta, and Northridge. I was more afraid it might just be my heart pumping oddly instead of an earthquake, but yup, that was one.
Anyone remember the Steve Martin movie L.A. Story? It was like that. Everyone carrying on about their business, with just a slight comment about how the earthquake feels.
We got one in Colorado this morning as well just south of Trinidad. We never felt it on the direct opposite side of the state. It was about the same size as well.
Guess this means... The End is Near, The End is Near!

Its not like that at all. In order for the US government to pay its bills they have decided to sell the east coast of the USA to China and thus it is necessary to break it off from the mainland and make it ready for shipping...

Yep it shook up my folks but no damage down there. I did feel it in Denver but I just thought it was JP.
Felt it here in Pittsburgh.
It was actually my third quake experience, but it was the first I really realized WAS an earthquake at the time.
My second was June of last year...we were at Waldameer Park in Erie having our first ride on the Ravine Flyer II (wood coaster). We just thought it was a very rough coaster.
First was over 20 years ago, first I knew of it was a news report. OMG an earthquake in Pittsburgh!
I really don't understand why you keep letting this sort of thing happen. ;)
I felt it at work, in uptown New York, some boxes around me were moving funny.
My wife down in Brooklyn felt it too, and saw our TV and computer monitors wobbling.
Weird.

I was in a courthouse not far from the epicenter in Virginia. It was an interesting ride for about 10 seconds. I grew up in California, so I can say that this was stronger than most I felt there ( though by no means all).
Where I was, it wasn't just "Oh how interesting, an earthquake!". It was "dive into the doorways and hold on tight."
