Loving the discussion here. If Jareth/Bowie is fey lord of some sort, does the Labyrinth reside in the First World or in a demiplane of its own? Either way, Jareth could have advanced powers based upon his presence in his home plane/First World much like a demon lord has in his realm on the Abyss. Should Jareth have the same powers on the Prime Material as he does on his own turf?

I've always thought of Jareth as the ultimate illusionist. He doesn't alter reality at a whim. He just makes it look like he did. Then, at the end of the movie [SPOILER ALERT], Sara says, "You have no power over me," everything falls to pieces, and she is back where she started. In the end, she made her Will save and that was that.

Isn't that the major weakness of any illusionist? Once they know you are an illusionist everyone just rolls for disbelief.

I, too used him as an illusionist...it did take my players several years to figure out his class...then it was "DOH!!!"

I also thought about this too. I tried building him as a crossblooded maestro/fey sorcerer and actually took the Aasimar race, since they have that supernaturally alluring thing going about them. It seemed kind of appropriate.

Mix in illusion and compulsion spells, and at later levels create demiplane (Can you permanency that? Cause that would be really awesome) and bamf, you can whip up a labyrinth (I also took wall of stone so he could cast that).

I also found that adding mythic Trickster tiers really made him interesting.

I'm going to seriously consider writing up an adventure path with him as the big bad for the series. It would be fun since half the time they wouldn't be able to cause him direct harm, but still make successes at fouling up his plans. And with Jareth being Jareth he could pop in now and again and have a chat with the heroes, see how they're doing, etc. :p

Conundrum, my how we so easily ignore doing any homework and make such ignorant pronouncements. David Bowie predates "hair bands" by twenty years (his accomplishments as both a preformer and song writer are well documented) - and according to several witnesses, including a reporter for Rolling Stone magazine, that was no cucumber.

Have to blow the whistle on that one.

His first hit in 1969, while sporting a beetles look, was best described as Psychedelic folk, as opposed to ziggy stardust, which was decidedly glam rock, aka: British "hair rock".

Hmmm. I've never thought of British glam as hair rock, even though Bryan, David and Marc did sport some killer do's (don't look at Eno until he cut his hair!).

Otoh, I've always thought that the hair metal bands descended directly from the New York Dolls by way of Kiss and Aerosmith.
