Is there a way to use Hero Lab to look at feats and archetypes as if you had the books with you without trying to make a character?

when i clicked on archetype it gives a description of it but not the exact changes that happens when you select it. like you lose this but gain that ability.

Not really, the descriptions are static.

I did this with mine before I got my ultimate combat.

You have to select the archetype, then go to the "class" tab, fighter if you are a fighter, etc.

Any of the new abilities will be listed, most with descriptions, and the ones replaced will say "replaced".

It's a slow process, but not hard.

If you want to look up feats, just open the feat window and type, ultimate combat.

All the feats tagged out of this book, probably all, will be listed.

Read to your hearts content.

Hey, bought the beginner box and played the game, bought Hero Lab and am trying to enter the items I got for my toon. How do I enter the "energy heart" gem with it's associated buffs into Hero Lab so it reflects on the stat sheets?

Are you using the Pathfinder RPG or the Pathfinder Beginner Box in Hero Lab?

I'm not familiar the the BB game, so I don't know that item at all, but it certainly doesn't exist as an item under that name in the full RPG rules. If it's a BB-only item, it would need to be created for use in the full version. Depending on what it does, that's either really easy or a right pain in the proverbial.
