Who gets to be Boromir?

Jade Regent

You're on a Great Journey halfway around the world to defeat monstrous evil and return the true ruler to the throne. So, logically, someone's gotta die on the way.

Of course, it's likely that some lucky PC will step up. But if nobody does, who gets to be Boromir?

Well, given that in Boromir's world Clerics with raise dead are rather sparse...

Given that goes for Golarion as well, and doubly so for the Crown of the World... :P

Given this reason, I'm thinking about killing off Ameiko about 3/4 of the way in, just to mix things up. :)

To each his own. If your group is okay with it, then it's okay.

REALLY? ENHenry you really haven't even gotten to see what the other books do and it sounds like she is very important to the story I dont see this working

Ah, but who is "you"? The decision of whether or not to resurrect is up the seal (aka, the GM)... not the party or NPCs. In fact, this strikes me as one of those abilities that, as a mean and nasty GM, I would hold in my back pocket. With artifacts, quite frequently the PCs only find out the powers gradually. Sure, the AP says the seal gives a sort of instant download of everything it does, but maybe as GM I want to keep this extra-special power a surprise for the right moment. And maybe if some doofus PC or NPC did something really stupid, the seal (aka me) doesn't think he deserves to be rezzed, so discovery of the power waits until later.

I dunno. Just thinking out loud. I'm a softer touch than I pretend to be sometime, but I think the fundamental point remains true: the decision of whether to resurrect or not is up the seal, not the players. They can ask, but the seal must decide whether it's worth the energy. And that's a decision that's up to the GM.

That said, it'd better not be Sandru. He's the only romancable dude!

Three things to consider:

1) I won't be running the AP for my group until most of it is published.

2) The Seal actually has a "backup plan" for the PCs built-in according to the AP, so Ameiko (nor any of the NPCs) is not 100% essential to the adventure's success -- nor should they be, in a well-designed adventure. If the PCs aren't the heroes, there's little point.

3) It's possible one of the PCs will be a sibling of Ameiko, due to the Player's Guide Traits.

Ergo, it would be one heck of a plot turn if, thousands of miles from home, so close to their goal, the one person they thought was essential to success dies -- only to find out that THEY are now bound by destiny to continue on so that their friend won't die in vain. And such was how a bunch of crazy stranger gaijin became the new sovereigns of Minkai... :)
