City Stat Blocks

What is the GP Limit mean in a city stat block?

I assume that you are talking about the Link->Settlement Information
"A settlement's purchase limit is the most money a shop in the settlement can spend to purchase any single item from the PCs"

Sovereign Court

Nope he means the GP limit
GP limit is the limit of the price of the item that is readily available in that settlement or town.

So if the GP limit is say 4000GP, anything worth 4000 gp or less can be bought in that town. Anything worth more has to be ordered or cannot be bought.

Ok great, so how do you guys know that?

Base Value and Purchase Limit: This section lists the community's base value for available magic items in gp. There is a 75% chance that any item of this value or lower can be found for sale in the community with little effort. If an item is not available, a new check to determine if the item has become available can be made in 1 week. A settlement's purchase limit is the most money a shop in the settlement can spend to purchase any single item from the PCs. If the PCs wish to sell an item worth more than a settlement's purchase limit, they'll either need to settle for a lower price, travel to a larger city, or (with the GM's permission) search for a specific buyer in the city with deeper pockets. A settlement's type sets its purchase limit.

There

Falcon’s Hollow
Town nonstandard (lumber consortium); AL NE
GP Limit 1,500 gp; Assets 40,550 gp

What you guys are describing is under marketplace in the state block.

What book are you getting that out of? This becomes important because if it is a 3.5 book (prior to PFCore) then it will use the old 3.5 DMG term which is GP Limit. This is functionally the same as PF GMG Purchase Limit.

Is it Pathfinder Chronicles: Guide to Darkmoon Vale? Because that is a 3.5 Pathfinder Setting product.

Crown of the Kobald King module. I think this might be 3.5.

Yep, easy to look up in the product section.

At the very top you can see the "folder" progression:
Store / By Company / P / Paizo Publishing, LLC / Pathfinder® / Pathfinder Modules / 3.5

GP Limit (3.5 D&D) = Purchase Limit (Pathfinder), same mechanic.

Or in the PRD -> http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/mastery/settlements.html#base-value-and- purchase-limit

Sorry correction

GP Limit ~= Base Value

Assets ~= Purchase Limit

The GP limit in 3.5 was basically the most expensive item you could buy in town. Assets was the total gold available in the city.

@David Thomassen, this is 3.5 vs Pathfinder transition issue.
