Harrowstone NPC personalities / motives

Carrion Crown

Hey guys I am GMing harrowstone and have the first path only, I will be buying them as needed. I don't know if any of the other NPCs come up with other motives or personality aspects later, if they do I would love to know about that now. But the main purpose of this post is to get ideas for my NPCs, what personalities and motives did you give to the townspeople of Ravengro? Specifically people like:
The council members.
Zokar and his son
Father Grimburrow
The various shopkeeps
The sheriff and his deputies
Kendra
Gibs
Or anyone else you gave some cool story.

I really apprciate the input, its my first time GMing and I want to do well.

I'm working on an extensive list on the motivations and secrets of the different villagers complete with personal quests. It's not finished yet, but if you're interested you can mail me @ mortagon@hotmail.com

I'm thinking about having Judge Diarmund (sic) as Kendra's Mother.

I'm sure you'd be doing a lot of people here on the forums a huge favor by making it available for download. :) But yeah, since I'm always looking for inspiration for my games, I'll be sending you a mail. :)

No, the formatting would be a nightmare to get right and it contains some mature themes. Feel free to drop me a mail and I'll send it to you.

I got your email Mortagon and just read through it. That was really amazing stuff and has a lot of great hooks to build off of.

Thanks for sharing your work.

Mortagon I just got home from work, I can't wait to pour through your work.

Thanks very much sir, if you get over this side of the pond I owe you a drink or three.

That's some good stuff, there.

Thank you, hope you find some of it useful :P

I'd like to resurrect this thread, and extend my sincere gratitude to Mortagon for creating such detailed backstories and motivations for Ravengro's otherwise bland collection of NPCs.

These details bring the town to life, and provide a host of subplots and quests to keep the PCs engaged while staying in Ravengro. Not all of these plots will be suitable to all players' tastes, but GMs can mix and match at their discretion.

Thanks again, Mortagon! Your posting history suggests you've moved on to Jade Regent now, but if you have any other resources or recommendations for Carrion Crown, I'd love to read them.

Thanks for the great stuff Mortagon, sorry for impatiently sending you an email before reading your later post.

Thank you all for your kind words and compliments. Sadly I never got to use any of the background stuff I wrote for CC, as my player's decided to skip CC and play JR instead. I guess horror just wasn't their cup of tea.

Hopefully my work wasn't in vain and I hope it provided some additional fun at your game tables.

Scarab Sages

These are incredible. Excellent work and I particularly love the side-quests. Did you do any more for other adventures?

I was planning to, but then I had to scratch my CC Campaign since my player's decided that they wanted to play JR instead.

Your Sanity/stability stuff helped me Mortagon just havent had a chance to use it yet

I can attest that it was not in vain. It gave my groups some great times. Including a great prank war between the party and zokar that ended poorly for the party, but was hilarious along the way. Just to name one example.

In retrospect I think I went a bit overboard with my sanity system. I am sure it could have been much more simplified, but I am glad you found some use for it.

Thanks for the stuff. I liked a lot of it and will probably go with your stability/sanity rules.

Unfortunately, I'd already done different stuff with some of the NPCs, so that wasn't as useful, but still very nice stuff.

Email request sent to. I've just begun this module so I'm hoping to flesh it out well.
Thanks

This is pure awesome, thanks Mortagon!

Thanks for the expanded information on the townsfolk! While I didn't use all of it, I did use some to help outline my own townsfolk and the Allip battle.

Necroing this thread can't wait to download all these files

I'm actually having trouble downloading these files?

If someone wouldn't mind emailing them to me? I'd really appreciate it.

This is fantastic. Thanks Mortagon. Consider it being put to use in another campaign.

I have noticed that some of you have had troubles downloading the files from my 4shared folder so I have made the files available through my dropbox. If anyone has trouble downloading the files please let me know and I will mail you the files.

Hi All,

Sorry to necro this thread but...does anyone have the files that Mortagon had provided?

I am looking at running this soon and these mods are supposed to be excellent.

Thanks

If you can’t Necro a Carrion Crown thread what can you Necro?!

The AP is indeed excellent, especially if you mine the threads from 2011 for ideas and inspiration, that’s when the AP was new. There is a great amount of work already done for the enterprising GM.

Also look into advice from the developers, like Wes Schneider and authors, like Brandon Hodge.

Another request here for a way to access Mortagon's file - just about to start running CC, and they sound perfect! Currently digging my way through the rest of the threads for inspiration :)

Wow, I haven't been active on the site for over a year now so it is awesome to see that there's still interest in my work. Here's a new Link , (I hope it works).
