On-going Homebrew PbP looking to fill 2 slots

Gamer Connection

I have a campaign going in which I need to fill 2 slots vacated by players who left due to RL conflicts.
Characters will have a 20 point buy
2 Traits (and one campaign will be given at a time in the future)
The characters are currently lvl 2

Background:
The dragon that keeps the balance between good and evil has been poisoned and his army destroyed. You will be thrust into a fight to find and bring a single dragon egg back before the dragon dies or all hope will be lost.

We could use a magic user (wizard, sorcerer, alchemist) and a skill monkey or a defender type class.
Please no evil characters (as from my experience they cause problems in the party)
Any class from core, apg, ultimate combat or ultimate magic.
Any race from the core or apg and any of their alternative racial traits are acceptable.

The Exchange

I can put forth an Alchemist, just not right now, I'm kind of tired, it being 2AM where I am and all. I'll probably have it up sometime tomorrow.

Sounds interesting. I'll throw up a rogue concept tomorrow.

The Exchange

Just wondering, what are the classes of the remaining players? This may end up affecting how I build my character.

Hi there,

I've read the whole thread and I would be interested to participate. I've got a character concept and background in mind: a sorcerer with a Linnorm bloodline(modified version of the draconic one in Ultimate Magic). I've written a background and if it suits you, I'll create the actual character. I've sort of expanded the background you've proposed, so if there are elements that you don't like, please say so.

Background:

Amongst the followers of the Dragon, the birth of a child touched by dragon magic is a favorable omen. these children are protected and raised to become heralds of the Dragon will and might. However, their number is few and, during the last war, as the situation was desperate, even the youngest joined the fight and they all sacrificed their lives to protect the Dragon.
Well that's almost the whole truth. All dragon marked people are not linked to the good Dragon. Deep in the remote part of the world, older being called Linnorms, wild cousins of the dragons, used to leave. No one knows if some of them are still alive, but they also left some marked children, but their blood has diluted down with time. Only a handful of people still bear their mark and not all of them can even express their powers.
As the dying Dragon lost all his children, he reached further in desperation and his mind was able to contact that of a girl whose blood resonated with his.
The message transmitted was not expressed with words but was a mixture of emotions, image and sounds. It was a plea, a call for help. It showed a group of adventurers gathering in Kalu and the image of a single dragon egg, well hidden in a deep cave. As the girl was untutored in her powers, it also transmitted enough knowledge to awaken her powers and get her to realize her potential.
that girl was Gwenola Gralfen, born in a small village with a blacksmith as a father and a weaver as a mother. As a kid, she had always been fascinated by fire and like her father, was very resistant to heat. As she came of age, she developed strange powers and was able to lit fire and burn items with the simple power of her mind when she was angry. To avoid incidents and prevent her being stoned for being a witch, her parents kept her at home, apart from the other kids. she took to working in the forge as it was the only place where she felt welcome. When she received the Dragon call, she did not hesitate and, packing a few belongings, she escaped to discover the world and find the town she was called to.

The Exchange

Nevermind, I've got too much going on to apply to another PBP.

Just a bump.

In case people were wondering as to current party, we have a Half-Orc Inquisitor, a Half-Orc Barbarian, and a Half-Elf Ranger.

EDIT: Ouch yeah and Grey

And a human 'cleric' of mysterious gender known as Grey.

Well to clarify we have a Half-Orc Inquisitor that thinks himself a Paladin, a Half-Orc Barbarian, a Half-Elf Ranger, and a Human Bard that thinks themself a Cleric. They are all really fun characters to see interact.

The Exchange

Actually, if you'd give me like, an hour, I think I can post an Alchemist.

How do you want equipment?

Edit: Give me, like a day, and I'll get you something, but the Alchemist I was going to make probably wouldn't work in your campaign. You already look fairly melee-heavy.

If you don't mind taking a quick look at it, I would, however, like to try out a third-party defender class. They get a slower BAB, but more defense. I present to you, The Armiger. If you say no, it's fine, I'll come up with something else.

I just think a dwarf armiger would be a good defender for your party.

Reading over the class I am very intrigued I think that would be a wonderful fit. As far as gear you could do a heirloom weapon trait, but I will house rule it for armor for your case. Also you get average starting wealth and you will get a few plot specific perks. Your character will start at level 2 and you get a free masterwork weapon or armor of your choice.

The Exchange

1d12 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Just rolling for second level HP.

Also, do you mind if I take the second option for wealth, taking Masterwork Splint mail instead of the standard Splint Mail, and 2d3*10 averaged?

Sounds like you all need a caster... I've had a concept for a sorc with both celestial and fiendish blood. Son of a tiefling and an aasimar. Any interest?

I am interested sounds like a very interesting dynamic, but which racial traits etc would you take?

Yea, so one of your character traits will need to be heirloom armor. And yes your wealth is right.

I love the background and would love to see a character sheet.

Llaelian:
Once you work up your character sheet please head over to our game thread and introduce your character as one waiting for them to return to the Haunted Horse.

The Exchange

Thank you, that answers my question. I'll have him up and ready shortly.

He'd be human, a celestial sorcerer with abyssal or fiendish eldritch heritage

Love it! Flesh him out with some type of backstory (I can help with some ideas if you need them) Let me know his general attitudes, prejudices, personality etc.

No problem. It's just really late, and I can't think of anything right now. If you don't mind waiting until later today, I can have something to you probably within 16 hours.

I'm afraid I'm going to back out. Sounds like a really interesting world, but I'm seeming to run dry and I'm about to begin in another pbp. I think DMing one and playing in 3 is enough. Sorry about that, I'll be lurking about. Ta-ta!

It's not great, but it's something.

Ricdak Backstory:
Not very strong, but incredibly tough, Ricdak is considerably heavier(240lbs total) than the average dwarf. He was bullied a bit as a child, but his mental toughness is very nearly as strong as his physical defenses. While not as good with weapons as his Dwarven brothers and sisters, he turned out much, much harder to kill. One day, Stronghold was invaded by Orcs. They slaughtered everyone, but only managed to knock him out, unbeknownst to them. He awoke some time later, after the Orcs left with what they could carry. He spent a few days grieving, and proceeded to lay the dead to rest. Not long after he completed this arduous task, he was sent a vision by the dying dragon, that he was needed in order to preserve the balance of this land. While the mental link was established, he asked a series of questions, concerning why he had been chosen, how he was going to find the others mentioned, and what his task actually was. The dragon responded to each of these in the same way: "Time will tell, young Dwarf. For now, you must leave your Stronghold. Follow the brightest star in the sky, and it will lead you to your destiny." With that, the link dispersed, and he was left alone, in what he decided used to be his home.

He left the next day, after sealing the entrance to the Stronghold shut forever.

I assumed that this Dragon would be very near a god in power, so he could pick and choose an individual from across the world or wherever, and talk to him. If this isn't true, feel free to change anything you want to.

You are right that the dragon would rival a god in power. The backstory is do-able so please go to the campaign thread and have your character wait for the rest at the Haunted Horse.

Could I get a quick link to the thread, if you don't mind?

Nevermind, found it. Prophesies of the Dragon?

Yea the link is here. Campaign thread .

Do you want me to just straight up introduce myself? Like with a physical description and a small introduction? Or do you want me to wait for you to give me a cue or something? Some DMs prefer one way, some the other.

Okay, here is Llaelian Character, with a full profile. I'll post in the game thread tomorrow.

Ricdak / Edgar:

I was looking at what an Armiger is, and when I reviewed your character I noticed that you may get 1 more hit point and 4 more skills points.

HP:
+12 1st level
+10 2nd level
+3 toughness
+1 favored 1st level
+1 favored 2nd level
+8 Con mod x2
===
35

Also it looks like you have only spent 4 skill points, so it looks like you may have not level up your skills for level 2.

Thank you. Apparently, I forgot about a bunch of stuff for 2nd level. I'll edit my profile real quick.

Fun fact: the minimum number of HP I gain at any level is 10. That's before Favored class bonus, and later, toughness.
