silly question but i'm having a brain fart today.
you get the spell at 5th level. and its +1 per four caster levels. max +5. but is it +1 at 5th until you're 8th level? or do fractions count?
aka
+1 up to 7th, +2 at 8th - 11th, +3 at 12th - 15th, +4 at 16th - 19th and only +5 at level 20 ?
or
+1 1st - 4th,
+2 5th - 8th,
+3 9th - 12th,
+4 13th - 16th,
+5 17th - 20th?
i like the second interpretation, just because it makes the spell start out at a +2 bonus, which makes it worthwhile to memorize as a 3rd level spell slot vs. the 1st level slot for plain old magic fang ( aside from the duration difference ).

School transmutation; Level druid 3, ranger 3
Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target one living creature
Duration 1 hour/level
This spell functions like magic fang, except that the enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls is +1 per four caster levels (maximum +5). This bonus does not allow a natural weapon or unarmed strike to bypass damage reduction aside from magic.
Alternatively, you may imbue all of the creature's natural weapons with a +1 enhancement bonus (regardless of your caster level).
Greater magic fang can be made permanent with a permanency spell.
I believe the intent is for the Spell to provide a +2 bonus at 5th Level. I will try and find and link a Dev posting on the matter.

If it's +1 per 4 levels, then it works thusly...
5-7 +1 (since you get it at 5th level)
8-11 +2
12-15 +3
16-19 +4
20 +5
The benefit initially over Magic Fang is the ability to imbue all natural weapons with +1 enhancement bonus. Even at levels 8-11 it might be of more use to imbue all weapons with +1 rather than give +2 to one.
Edit: Updated last blurb.

So "1 per 4 Levels" is (1-7)=1, (8-11)=2, (12-15)=3, (16-19)=4, 20+=5
But "once for every 5 levels" APG FAQ is (1-4)=1, (5-9)=2, (10-14)=3, (15-19)=4, 20+=5.
or redoen to match
"Once for every 4 Levels" Would be (1-3)=1, (4-7)=2, (8-11)=3, (12-15)=4, (16-19)=5 & 20+=5 due to the "(maximum +5)" statement in the spell description.

thats a case of uncleared text being clairified and errata'd. not the way every rule works

argh yeah. they're confusing me now. SKR is acting like the "once for every 5 levels" is really once + once per every 5 levels (rounding down). [ it couldn't be 1/5 rounding up because then at 5th level it'd be 1 not 2 ]. game math. argh.
i'd rather it could give +2 to one natural weapon OR +1 to all natural attacks right off the bat at 5th level. ( wishing and wanting and whatnot ). greater magic weapon has the same progression.
