Pirate characters

Skull & Shackles

so i've had this pirate character i've been itching to use, i was gonna use him in my brothers upcoming serpent's skull but with skull and bones (tentative title) coming out after jade regent.
i decided to wait (also my brothers group already has a character of same class).

DJANGO cn (pronounced jango)
varisian oracle, mystery:waves or wind, curse: lame (peg leg)
his leg was bitten off by a shark and during his fevered recovery kept hearing the sea calling to him.
just want to know if anyone else already has their pirates made yet :)

Waves hello - there are a few Freeport based PbPs going at the moment which is a heavy pirate setting.
Only suggestion I'd make is that you don't have to make it a peg-leg unless you truly want to be a stereotypical pirate. Leg mangled beyond healing works just as good.

i do want a stereotypical pirate, kind of like a young cap'n barbossa, i also want to make a dwarven witch for some reason (probably for jade regent)

Since there is an opportunity, and my group might actually try to run this dark...I have this idea of an Orc, big mean, monstrous Orc. But heck if I know what class. My gut is screaming Barbarian, but dang it I have two barbarian humans already.

Witch sounds cool, but not with the above (at least, not in my head).

Can you imagine the fun of a druid, standing on front of the ship, blowing the giant shell horn and summoning up whales to slam into your targets ship?

Inquisitor of Rovagug could be awesome.

So many opportunities.

Dwarf witch pirates rock. I submitted one for a PbP game.

He's a dwarf witch from the shackles who goes by Picklebeard. He has a monkey a (bearded emperor tamarin) familiar named Sasha.

Silver Crusade

I've got one in mind but I don't want to say more until I have my background figured out for her.

Grand Lodge

This AP is gonna be about Mobility - swashbucklers and acrobatics are really gonna come into their own here.

I hope there is some mechanics on 'lightly' armoured vs Medium and Heavy besides pure AC and "You drown if you fall in".

Gunslingers will be cool - I wonder if it will be Cannon or Balistae and Catapults?

Liberty's Edge

In a 3.5 adventure just before Pathfinder came out I played a pirate. She was a swashbuckler/rogue and I loved playing her. Sadly our DM moved away and it left things kind of hanging with her.

Her back story was a wee bit Elizabeth Swann like. A fine young noble woman who had ignored her family and was infatuated with a dashing Privateer/Pirate. He stole her away for ransom from her family and then when the money did not surface and he had heard tales of her families death, which was believed by all as they had been captured by slavers and believed dead, she turned to piracy as all she had left. Sadly the Ships captain whom she had fallen in love with was killed and the crew not wanting a woman on their ship sold her off for freedom claiming she was the real prize.

Withthe new AP I want to play another pirate type

my plan is to have him braid a bunch of tiny skulls, jewels and what not into his beard and have a spider for a familiar (i'm actually going this route probably instead of peg legged oracle, tho i really love that idea too)

Oh thats a great idea. That was similar to a concept I had of a dwarf spooky witch who dealt with poisons and alchemy. I always thought prehensile beard and couldren hexes would be flavorful for a dwarf witch of that style.

The only thing about a spider familiar is that you have to make sure that the spider has a beard as well! As a dwarf, you can only have an empathic link with a creature that has a beard.

I'm running a pirate AP already, and we have some interesting characters. Tommy "Blacktoes" Burrowbank, halfling rogue/assassin; Sindawe the Bonuwat monk (now Captain Sindawe to you); "Serpent" Ref Jorensson the Ulfen druid/barbarian/ranger; and Wogan the Chelish priest of Gozreh. Check out their full descriptions, pics, and character sheets on our campaign site.

I'll probably reflavour my Rogue Mel(issa) who does the girl disguised as a boy schtik. As she is from Riddleport it shouldn't be to hard to get her into piracy. I'll probably make her a swashbuckler archetype as well(though the temptation to take her into the arcane trickster path is rather strong now).

Arcane tricksters are probably at their strongest in these sort of campaigns - untie ropes etc to really create chaos... heck, I think the range is 30 ft. You can trigger someones crossbow :) at the wrong moment
