Well...

YARRR!!!

PIRATES woooooohoooooo

ok, so how's this for a character concept: an undead/serpent crossblooded Reanimator alchemist blackblade magus dhampir freedom fighter from Andoran!

yeah!

ok...I think I hurt myself thinking that one up...

Me wantes MOAR, plox!!!

DETAILS MAN! I NEED DETAILS!

Liberty's Edge

This... actually kind of disappoints me. I'm not a huge pirate fan, so a pirate-themed AP leaves me a little flat. Not saying it will be bad or anything; given Paizo's overall AP quality, it'll probably wind up being quite good. But much like Legacy of Fire wasn't my thing, this isn't really my thing either. Kudos to all the pirate fans, though. =)

It's supposed to be a sandbox like kingmaker, with infamy and plunder subsystems.

I wonder if there is a way to combine the kingmaker rules with an island hopping campaign? Kingmaker is primarily land based (with some lake and river travel implied, if not always explicit)...I'd imagine things would have to work somewhat differently if you wanted to build/found a pirate/island colony.

Just awesome.

This sounds amazing! I don't have much interest in Jade Regent, so this is definitely sounding like the Path I will be looking to once I finally get Carrion Crown under way.

Myeh.

;-)

yeah, i'm not overly fond of Jade Regent. I'm not cancelling my subscription over it 'cause there's always SOMETHING of use in every AP that paizo makes, but I don't think I'll be running it. And i'm gonna make someone ELSE run Carrion Crown for me. I want to play that sucker, not run it!

of course...a pirate themed kinmaker style game of exploration and development is pretty cool. I honestly don't know if I'd want to run it or play in it!

That sounds very cool actually. At first my reaction was meh, but if it is like Kingmaker with things like a infamy and plunder subsystems that sounds very cool indeed.

I was about to say Meh. But my group is actually playing today, and when I went in to tell them that was going to be the next AP, their reaction was, "Awesome!" So looks like I may be running it after all. (Doesn't sound like something I'd want to play in.)

Sovereign Court

Wow, I can't wait to see this! I wish there more details.

if its even half as good as Kingmaker then it'll rock the house.

Looks like somebody at Paizo looked at what ripples did Kingmakers cause, and turned those ripples into a wave!

Yeah, I'm poor at cheap puns.

The Exchange

Another Sandbox AP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell yeah. Now I know what I'll run after Kingmaker :D

A pirate AP? Okay, I could maybe be interested in that. I'm not especially for or against pirates as an RPG theme but I trust paizo to turn anything into gold. Wait, it's sandbox pirate AP, with infamy and plunder subsystems!? Yes, please!!

A Pirate AP awesome and "infamy" and "plunder" subsystems sound interesting to me and it is a "sand box" as well.

Anyone know if we're talking about The Shackles here?

I YO-HO-Hope so!

Dark Archive

(Not that there is anything wrong with sandbox just my group dosent react well to them)

YARR! YE LANDLUBBERS! HOIST THE MAINSAILS!

I want to play in this AP so bad I'm going to explode. Pirates and wenches and booty and wenches and ships and wenches oh my!

so basically ninjas first, THEN pirates...

hmm. odd how those two groups always seem to crop up in pairs like that.

Think I'll reserve my excitement until I know more. The AP after Age of Worms was piratey...but not, and Serpent's Skull was piratey...but not, so as much as I would love to see Paizo do a piratey AP, I want to KNOW it's happening before I break out the rum and cutlass...

Sovereign Court

So, now we have to start thinking how to incorporate the Razor Coast Indulgences... and the Shackles Pirate prestige class might get some love now.

Serpent's Skull was never called out as "piratey", in fact the Player's Guide clearly spelled out that it is in now way a maritime campaign. And I'm reasonably sure that Savage Tide was also never advertised as a "pirate campaign". This however seems to be explicitly just that.

"Run up the colours and clear for action ye swabs...there be treasure an' wenches fer the taking..Arrrr"

Enthused about this partly because it finally gives me a reason to use my 150+ Pirate figures.

Hmm. Won't be running Jade Regent, so was holding out for something a little more mainstream for my group. Pirates - well, it seems to be popular so I can't fault Paizo giving the people what they want, but again, just not something I'm interested in. There's such a wealth of fascinating countries in and around the Inner Sea region to explore and develop stories in. I'm afraid I just don't get the pirate love, it seems really one note. Now I have to decide whether to cancel my sub after Carrion Crown or sit out twelve months where I'm only going to use the ancillary material.

Really disappointed.

How to talk like a pirate.

Sandbox pirates! Naval Battles! Sounds great!

Oh, better far to live and die,
Under the brave black flag I fly,
Than play a sanctimonious part,
With a pirate head and a pirate heart.
Away to the cheating world go you,
Where pirates all are well-to-do;
But I'll be true to the song I sing,
And live and die a Pirate King.

For I am a Pirate King!
And it is, it is a glorious thing
To be a Pirate King!
For I am a Pirate King!...

Liberty's Edge

More or less how I feel...

+1 on this post. Very disappointed about a pirate-themed AP. Sigh.

While I knew that based on James Jacobs tally of the responses to "what people want in a new AP" thread had pirates as the leader by a considerable margin, I didn't expect to see it this soon!

And Kingmaker was so well done, the thought that a similar treatment will be applied to this AP is fantastic! Infamy and plunder subsystems? Even better.

Well, for me, as an example, it was like that when Carrion Crown was announced, and again with Jade Regent. Both themes don't hold much interest for me. Pirates I like, so finally again something to look forward to.

Well you can't please everybody all the time..for every Ap there will be a significant number of us who don't like what's on offer.I for one love swashbuckling games of derring do(just bought All for One from Triple Ace) and I'm a big Lo5R fan so this and Jade Regent are making me very happy

OMG, an AP that isn't standard fare Western Medieval fantasy type and Zaister likes. Something's wrong with the universe! ;-)

Grand Lodge

I really don't like pirates, but I will read it with enthusiasm. (Jack Sparrow ruined any love for pirates I had).

Jack sparrow is the best thing to happen to pirates in many years. I can't think of any other good pirate movies that is less than 40-50 years old.

Dark Archive

I don't really have any special liking for pirates, but a sandbox-style nautical campaign positively piques my interest.

I'd love to see some free-roaming island-hopping adventuring, without the kingdom-building reins of Kingmaker (which were appropriate, however).

*cough* The Pirates of Penzance *cough*

Also, Princess Bride does qualify to some degree, doesn't it?

The princess bride was mostly on land and had no real pirates in it but the main character and even then he was just pretending so the last captain could retire.

You landlubbers be silent before we board you! Arrrr. We're the terror of the High Seas. Follow us into the Eye if you dare!

We'll sink your ships, keelhaul your men, take your women as slaves, and make illegal copies of your software!
