Hi all,
I know this is something of a strange request, and possibly a bit of a longshot, but nothing ventured nothing gained, and all that...
Here's the deal. I recently started up a Slumbering Tsar pbp on these boards, and recruited 6 very fine players to participate. Before we really got started, I was unfortunately hospitalized with a serious infection due to a previously undiagnosed chronic illness. Upon getting out of the hospital, I was please to find that the players were all still hoping to play, and so we got things rolling. Now, though, I find that due to my real life situation, it's hard for me to give the game the attention that it deserves. Still, with awesome players on board, and a super cool adventure awaiting us, I'm loathe to just walk away.
One possible solution that has occurred to me is to try to seek the help of a co-DM. My strengths as a DM are definitely in story advancement and character development. The big time sink that's killing me, though, is running combat. That's a problem in a meat-grinder of an adventure like Slumbering Tsar.
So I guess what I'm looking for is someone who basically has the time, interest, and rules know-how to roll dice, run combats, and so forth to keep the game from stalling out. I have no idea whether anyone around these parts finds that remotely appealing, like I said. But who knows? Feel free to post with questions or comments, even it you're not expressly volunteering for the job.
Oh, and you'd probably like to see where the game stands thus far...
I'm one of the players in the thread and I think being a harlequin/combat gm would be a great way for someone to get their feet wet in Pbp Gm-ing. Besides I doubt it will be forever. If you hate it someone else ca give it a try or Toothless might feel better or a player will pick it up. So no pressure, no commitment, just some fun and helping out.

I was one of the people that applied and didn't get it and I wouldn't mind stepping in and helping out. I lothe running combat but seeing how thats all I would be doing I wouldn't mind stepping in and helping. Let me know what you need.
Hiya, mathpro. Do you have any other pbp's that you have DM'd on the boards? I wouldn't mind checking out your style for handling pbp combats, if possible.
Also, just curious (not to look a gift horse in the mouth)...why volunteer for this if you don't particularly enjoy the combat aspect of pbp?

I've been giving this idea some long, hard thought, and I've decided not to go this route after all. I suppose I really do just need to step away from the game for a time.
