Is a tiny eidolon possible?

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

I want to make a summoner with a tiny sized eidolon. I didn't see any evolutions that would do that.

It has to be from a Paizo PFRPG product, so I can't home-brew it or use a third party source.

Any ideas?

Choose the Broodmaster archetype so your base eidolons are small.

Use Reduce Person to make them tiny.

you don't even need to broodmaster them. You can just select them to be small, straight from the APG.

You're right; I missed that.

So, yeah -- select a small eidolon, and use Reduce Person to make it tiny.

Not at this point you can't, not without additional magic that you'd have to keep reusing. I looked into it, wanting a fer-real pixie as my eidolon, and the closest you can get is Small.

You can make reduce person permanent

I feel the need to ask this question, and though I assume the answer is the all important "concept" to which EVERYTHING ELSE MUST BOW BEFORE.

Why would you do that?!?

If the group has a lot of melee coverage, then a utility eidolon can be a great alternative.

The evolution for a +8 racial bonus to a chose skill (any skill), plus flight and smaller sizes can make an excellent scout and troubleshooter.

Permanency cast on Reduce Person requires 9th level caster (the earliest you can cast Permenancy anyways), and an extra 2500gp cash.
This is subject to dispel though.. but anti-magic fields should only suppress it, so someone would have to be trying to dispel it.

Alternatively, you could ask your DM if you could make a custom made item of Reduce Person.
The spell technically works on humanoid only, but if you are supplying the spell in the creation, I wonder if it would be subject to the "cast on your eidolon" rule for bypassing the humanoid creature rule.
If that's allowed, then you are looking at a 4000gp item, and it takes up a slot on both the eidolon and the summoner.

Costly enough, for a "not too major" effect. I mean, Tiny loses TONS of combat ability for the slight boost to other areas. Enlarge gives extra reach.. Tiny loses ALL reach, meaning no AoO, and you can be hit with an AoO when trying to enter space to try and attack, cannot flank, etc.
A very different beast from Enlarging someone...

Well, pixies are small in Pathfinder.

But the size would be the least problem of such an eidolon. Such creatures work much better as improved familiars than as eidolons.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I bought a cute little winged serpent toy at a Ren Faire and want to use it as a prop in PFS (which doesn't allow permanency).

Oh well. I just figure, if you can get Huge, you should be able to get tiny.
