Storm Druid

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Any thoughts on the StormDruid archetype from UM?
I think spontaneous casting from 2 Domains is pretty nifty, especially when they are full of battlefield control and blasty spells.
Might make for an interesting twist on treantmonks wild mystic in air elemental form?

Bump...sorry, post got lost amongst the torrent of 0-Posts

Currently we have a gnome druid from Gogpodda playing a storm druid and she is having tons of fun. Going with the "it's not nice to mess with mother nature" kind of RP thing. :)

On the whole, I like it. I'm not sure if I personally prefer stormborn sorceror, but I don't think you'll have any trouble contributing.

Tip: Spell penetration is going to be important at high levels.

Of all the archtypes for the druid, I like that the most.

Control winds was entirely useless until this archtype, Loove it. The more you can mess with the wind the better off you are.

agreed, already had an urban druid planned for spontaneous casting of [weather] domain, this is so much more sweeter. If you dabble in 3.5 the Stormcaster from the Stormwrack book complements this perfectly.

What would your builds look like, I mean losing animal companion and spontaneous. Nat ally is a big deal

Basically go with the treatmonk guide for the caster druid. Get natural spell and turn into a little bird. Fly around all the time casting spells out of the reach of bad buys.

I was disappointed that they didn't gain access to more electricity spells, namely lightning bolt. They get chain lightning as an air domain spell, though, which is pretty cool (but it's a long wait). For this reason, I replaced the 3rd level air domain spell with lightning bolt. Really, I just can't justify calling a character a "Storm Lord" unless he can pull a Palpatine.

I'm there too, but that's also because I generally would never take an archetype with Druid - the generic "woodlands druid" that I'm used to is just fine.

I know this is an old thread, but I am thinking of playing a Storm Druid in a homebrew kingmaker campaign we are starting up. spontaneous casting from 2 domains? I thought Druids get one domain? Wouldn't a storm druid just replace summons natures ally spontainous casting with the domain spells of their one domain granted from a druid? I was confused by this post.

Ahh, never mind, I read that they get another domain at 9th level. Sorry :D
