Provided you are of a level that you can get major hexes, can you use the Extra Hex feat to obtain more major hexes?

I don't see anything saying you can't select major hexes in the Extra Hex feat description. RAW, I would say yeah, you can use Extra Hexes to get more major hexes.

Or take it at 19th to get a Grand Hex.

Agree can take major or grand hex with extra hex feat once your past the level requirement in the class.

If you want some more proof, I would use this to back it up:
Major Hex: Starting at 10th level, and every two levels
thereafter, a witch can choose one of the following major
hexes whenever she could select a new hex.

Liberty's Edge

Interestingly enough, My GM said that it doesnt work because of the wording behind major hex. Essentially because you can only choose to replace a hex with a greater hex on level 10,12,14,16,18 & 20.

thoughts???

That seems correct, thanks to the specific wording. You'd be limited to the hexes gained at those levels.

Taking feat => get new hex => make new hex a major hex.
That's how I read the mechanics of it. As the feat says you can take any hex you meet prerequisite of, and most if not all of the prerequisite hexes are major.

Dark Archive

Any time you gain a feat you can gain a new hex. Don't let your dm grow up to be douches.

I'd say that the intent is to allow a witch to take major hexes anytime she gains a hex at 10th level or higher. My guess is that the ability got worded this way to save space in the book.

That said, if your GM is really stuck up on the wording (he has a point by RAW, though I believe it's pretty far from RAI) then just take a 1 level dip of mindchemist alchemist at 10th level instead of witch. Then when you gain your 10th level of witch, you'll be an 11th level character and you can now take the extra hex feat to select a major hex, since you happen to be on the level that allows it.

If your GM even pauses to consider that for a second, point out to him how silly it is and then ask him if he really wants to stick with the strict wording of RAW about hexes when no other mechanic in the game (that I'm aware of) allows you to only pick your highest level abilities on even levels for some arbitrary reason. "My wizard can only pick 5th or 6th level spells at odd levels because my GM said even levels are for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th level spells only"...

Just my thoughts (as a GM and player).

So a Druid 1/Witch 10 could use a feat to gain a major hex but a Witch 11 can't.....?
