Wind Wall vs. Large Air Elemental

Would Wind Wall block a Large Air Elemental from attacking or moving through? Would an air elemental be considered in gaseous form?

No. Air elementals are as solid as any other creature. Otherwise, how would you be able to hurt them? You can't cut or bludgeon a gas cloud. Also, gaseous things usually can not go underwater, but the air elemental entry says it can swim.

Still though. It's kind of funny picturing a wind wall stopping an air elemental isn't it?

He'd be like, "Oh cooomme oooooon."

They can be blown away. They will need to make a fly check. Snce tiny and small flyers can't fly through it then you would be looking at the windstorm or hurricane rows on the fly table (under the fly skill). Since air elementals are great flyers the check is fairly trivial for them but they can fail.

Karkon, thanks for the Fly check reference. I hadn't considered that.

I would assume that it would be a Windstorm force due to the tiny/small reference in the Wind Wall description. Since the Air Elemental is Large, it is not even "checked". So technically it has no effect other than a -8 to fly checks. I'll still have it make a fly check (+21 minus 8) to see if it fails miserably. And then only prevent movement and attacks through the wall until next round. I don't want to make the PCs attempt to be completely useless.
