Effortless Trickery Feat: Is there anything else that downgrades concentration from a standard action?

Rules Questions

Effortless Trickery

Your natural knack for illusion allows you to maintain at least one illusion spell with little effort.

Prerequisite: Gnome.

Benefit: You can maintain concentration on one spell of the illusion school as a swift action. This has no effect on spells of other schools or on illusion spells with durations that don’t depend on your active concentration. While you may only maintain one spell as a swift action, you may take your move and standard actions to maintain other spells normally, if you wish.

Normal: Concentrating to maintain a spell is a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Spellsong from UM seems to, but the wording confuses me.

Looks like that makes the concentration a move action at the cost of one round of bardic performance.

It's more so the second two sentences that throw me for a loop.

"You can cast another spell in the same round you are using bardic magic to maintain concentration; if you do this, your concentration on the maintained spell ends when you end the bardic performance the spell is part of."

Yep. This needs some interpretation.

What is the bardic performance that they are talking about? One interpretation is that there is a new bardic song which lets you concentrate as a move action. Since you are only using your move action, you could take a standard action to cast something else. Concentration on the first spell ends when you stop the bardic performance you are using to maintain it.

This seems very limiting because you couldn't also have another song like inspire courage going.

Another interpretation is that as long as you have a bardic performance up, you can also maintain a concentration effect on a spell at the cost of an extra use of bardic performance per round. Stopping your performance also ends the spell you are concentrating on.
