Blight / Urban Druids and Vermin Animal Companions

Rules Questions

In the APG, the two archetypes listed mention that the druid can't take an animal companion. However, both of these archetypes have special connections with Vermin.

I haven't been able to see anything, but can those druids take the new Vermin animal companions presented in UM?

Yup. Page 36 details how Vermin Companions work.

3 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

Let me clarify, Blight / Urban druid archetypes can not select an animal companion and must select a Domain.

Blight Druids get "Vermin Empathy", so they clearly have a connection to Vermin. These guys are the main ones I'm wondering about.

Urban Druids can't select an animal companion either, but there fluff says "While many druids keep to the wilderness, some make their way within settlements, communing with the animals and vermin who live there and speaking for the nature that runs rampant in civilization’s very cradle." In retrospect, it'd be silly for Urban druids to get vermin animal companions when animals are mentioned as well. So let's ignore the Urban Druid part of the question.

Can Blight Druids, who normally can't select animal companions but have a connection with Vermin, take a vermin animal companion? Was this intended for the blight druids, but never mentioned in UM?

They could take a Vermin Familiar. The Greensting Scorpion would be an excellent choice for a Blight Druid.

Any other opinions? I'm curious.
