Necromancer (Life) and Oracle (Life) can gain Spellcasting without AoO

Hello - This is my first post and was looking at 2 specific powers, if used together, will virtually give spellcasters the ability to cast without drawing an AoO.

Life School [Associated School: Necromancy] has the Healing Grace Power(Su) which states: Whenever you cast a spell that has targets, affects creatures in an area, or requires an attack roll, you may heal creatures affected by the spell a total of 1 point of damage per level of the spell...

Oracle with Life Mystery has Safe Curing(Su): Whenever you cast a spell that cures the target of hit point damage, you do not provoke attacks of opportunity for spellcasting.

So in essence, if I cast Fireball and choose one of the soon-to-be burnt targets to heal 3 hp, I can cast this without drawing any AoO. Every spell, Arcane / Divine is scott-free to cast in melee. Correct me if I am wrong but this is how I read the combination. Please discuss this combination. I am interested to know what you think.

Thanks.

Not sure it's worth the dip level. Also casting from a wand or staff does not provoke, so you might be better off simply buying an item.

Sounds about right.

Liberty's Edge

It does not work.

Safe Curing mentions "a spell that cures the target of hit point damage", while Healing Grace gives YOU the ability to heal the targets.

Since it is not the spell that does the healing, it does not fall under the aegis of Safe Curing.

+1, also your example of fireball spell is off, since the spell does not have targets it is an area of effect spell but does not specifically target creatures.

I thought it covered area of effects by this bolded part: Whenever you cast a spell that has targets, affects creatures in an area, or requires an attack roll, you may heal creatures affected by the spell a total of 1 point of damage per level of the spell.

I do appreciate the review. And, being new, I recognize the '+1' as a positive thing {pardon the pun} but cannot see where that tacks on to my profile; unless it is internal to the thread only. Could you please elaborate some?

Thanks.
