Ranger Favored Enemy - Humanoid (other)?

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

I'd like some claraification on Humanoid (other Subtype), can I choose to have Arcane casters as a favoured enemy, or does it have to be more specific like "wizard" (archetypes)?

It needs to be an actual subtype, such as "elf", "dwarf", and so on. The reason it says (other subtype) is to avoid having to list every subtype that exists for Humanoid creatures (plus it will then work also for new subtypes they create later).

It's listed in the ranger section.

Thanks. I finally made a decision, cant take "arcane" so going after the the hirelings, Monsterous humanoids.

3.5's PHB II or was it complete magus? allowed ranger's to choose arcane spellcaster as their enemy. I find it a reasonable enough choice.

It seams like a perfectly fine house rule but personally I think it was included just as a catch-all in case the developers create a new humanoid sub-type.

Also, keep in mind that if you allow FE-Humanoid Arcane Spellcaster that it won't work against other types of arcane spellcasters such as outsiders, undead, dragons, etc.
