[Interest] Star Trek - d20 Modern / Future

This is more in the planning/preliminary phase.

Don't want to spend too much energy developing something no one is going to play.

Two options of era I would run are Enterprise or TNG/Voyager.

I decided on d20 because of two reasons:

1. I already have the rulebooks
2. I'm already familiar with the rules

Enterprise Campaign
Archer was not able to destroy the spheres in the Expanse, allowing the Xindi to continue building up their forces.

The party is a group of specially trained operatives who are sent into the Expanse to find Archer, and neutralize the Xindi threat.

TNG/Voyager Campaign
After Voyager returns to earth, they are unaware that a new type of borg probe has been following in their wake. Arriving 1 month after Voyager, the probe assimilates Jupiter station, and prepares a defensive perimeter for a borg offensive which is en-route.

The party has to infiltrate the new borg unimatrix, and stop the queen who is growing inside.

I like ST, but I dont have the books. Right off I would say neither of these storylines pique my interest very much. One story line that would seem a lot of fun and very intersting is about that race that almost took over Starfleet; those beatle like worms that get in your throat and make take you over; make you a strong, phasor resistant drone. Those few almost took over; and that was only the scouts; I think expanding that premise would be a fun game.

I dont know how other people feel; but in Enterprise; I stopped watching when they started whole storylines mixing up the time continuium; I really hate that and consider it bad writing.

Borg trying to assimilate earth; been done; done again; I understand it is popular thing; can you play independant borg characters. I just dont get what is the premise here; seems if the borg land on Jupiter; the federation will send every ship and technology to eradicate the threat. Am I wrong in assuming the Borg collective is gone since Geordi's virus wiped it out?

anyway; my thoughts, am just thinking there is a lot more stories to be explored in ST that would be a lot more fun; are the Cardassians really ready for another war; Is the Federation making any progress with that race that speaks all in metaphor and story; Beast of Tanagra; that was a really cool story. There are hundreds of storylines that could be done from ST stories. Am just now watching the first season of Voyager; looks intersting; am on episode 11.

I'm interested. Either campaign idea is fine by me. Of course, you could always run in the revamped original era following up on events in the Star Trek reboot.

ooh follow the reboot; that would be cool; that could go anywhere.

This sounds cool, but to be honest I am not a fan of the Enterprise/Archer storyline. I would prefer to run in the TMP/Movie era, or even the Voyager era.

I have to admit the reboot storyline is intriguing as well.

Reboot storyline...

Could be a lot of fun. Never looked at the idea before. Don't know if I would go within the confines of the movie, or work on something that takes place afterwards.

Spock had arranged for the surviving Vulcans to relocate, but the deal didn't pan out.

Adrift in barges, and various transports, they roam the quadrant looking for their place in the galaxy...maybe they look to Romulus now for a new home.

An early form of the Maquis arises, led by a group of rogue Vulcans. They have a lot of influence and have the means to topple the Federation.

Annexing a world for their own purposes, they destroy a handful of Vulcan transports en-route as an example that they care little for the well-being of their own race. These Vulcans are single-mindedly looking for revenge. They have allowed their emotions to rise

With armaments secured, they turn their attention to Romulus, the birthplace of Nero.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

I'd definitely be interested in this. Any timeline's good for me.

Now that's something I could really get into.

There are a lot of first run Star Trek things that could turn out different in the reboot; lot of things of power like "Return of the Archons", and "city on the edge of tomorrow" heck; where is Spock's brother now; the laughing vulcan. Spock would know about the upcomming wars with the Klingons and Cardassians and the vacuum of power left by the Romulans would be dizzing; what a campain the reboot would be; wonder where the next movie will go.

I'd definitely be interested in a Star Trek game, though I don't have any applicable rulebooks. But I've got to admit, I have no taste for a game in the reboot storyline or anything with a heavy combat focus, which most of the suggestions here seem to be.

If someone is looking at running a roleplaying heavy, exploration focused game I'll be a lot more interested.

I'll work on some ideas this week and see how much of a campaign I can sustain. If there are certain things people would like to see, don't hesitate to let me know.

Mainly just flagging this to see if it's still even a possibility.

As a suggestion, you could do something along the Voyager lines...

Crew is primarily a bunch of Cadets fresh out of the Academy finishing up there training tour, when ship gets pulled to one of the other Galaxies in the local group...either by some unknown entity, Q, or a random Wormhole that opens upright where the ship drops out of warp, causing a lot of damage, and the catastrophic loss of all but a handful of Junior officers - Lt being the highest rank, Capt. and all senior command staff die. I know it was done in an episode of DS9 with cadest running a ship lost in the Gamma quadrant.
