The Ki Mystic monk alternate from the APG has the following ability:
Ki Mystic (Su): At 3rd level, a ki mystic gains a pool of ki points equal to his Wisdom modifier. The pool increases to 1/2 his monk level + his Wisdom modifier + 2 at level 4. If the monk has at least 1 point of ki in his ki pool, he gains a +2 bonus on all Knowledge skill checks. As a swift action, the monk can spend 1 ki point immediately before making an ability, or skill check to gain a +4 insight bonus on the check. This ability replaces still mind.
Nothing in the rest of the Alternate Class Features (ACF) state that they are replacing the Ki Pool ability in the base monk class. Does this mean, the Ki Mystic will end up getting DOUBLE ki points, effectively? I mean, this doesn't state that the points are separate, in fact, they are both called "ki points".
Thanks for the help.

At 3rd level you get a ki pool equal to your wisdom modifier.
At 3rd level you can only do the following:
If you have at least one point in the pool you gain +2 on all knowledge skill checks.
You can spend 1 ki to get a +4 insight bonus to an ability or skill check.
You CANNOT use a ki point to gain +4 to AC, that is a power you get at 4th level.
At 4th level the ki pool size changes to 1/2 level + wisdom modifier
You can now use the other listed: +4 AC, +1 attack when flurry, etc.
As well as the ones listed for 3rd level.

Yar.
This was discussed in a bit more detail HERE. (though when I did a forum search for "Ki Mystic", that thread never appeared... which is very strange)
However, even there it did not find any real resolution.
I've presented RAW arguments with quotes, page references, and links in the other thread, but unless we get more people clicking the FAQs for posts, it seems this question will be a GM call.
