Jade Regent PCs (No Spoilers)

Jade Regent

Silver Crusade

I know the player's guide for this AP is more than a ways off, but...

Would a Shoanti half-orc barbarian have a hard time fitting into the campaign? Particularly on the Minkai end of things?

Possibly. But, you could always take the trait or feat that allows half-orc's to pass as human...in which case, you'd stand out no moreso than a Shoanti in Minkai.

No more so than in most games.

Silver Crusade

Thanks! I was just concerned about how the scene in Minkai would work out for monstrous looking characters, coming after Carrion Crown's super xenophobic Ustalav.

Eh, that feat always felt like it took some of the fun out of playing a half-orc(and bites into the aesthetic appeal). Thanks though!

Are Tian PCs viable from the start of the Jade Regent? Me and others in my group have been discussing whether it makes sense to have a Ninja/Samurai PCs in Sandpoint, but it doesn't really make much sense to me (I could be wrong, though), so is there some ploot hook/campaign trait that makes these PCs possible from the start?

Sure. Tian PCs are actually viable in ANY and EVERY adventure path we do.

There are already ninja and samurai in the Inner Sea region as well. If you want to play one in Jade Regent (or any adventure) you can.

There'll even be a trait you can pick that makes you one of her younger sisters or brothers.

I see some campaigns ending with Ameiko dying mysteriously just before she was about to take her throne... :p

due to certain things I am working on, a lot of what I think should be in this AP will work for me. I am just wondering though what sorcerer bloodlines work best for Tian characters? Or is this something that the player's guide will cover when it comes out?

The Player's Guides generally list good choices for a particular campaign, not really good choices for a specific region. Especially in the case of Jade Regent, which takes place on three different continents; it's not all about Tian Xia.

For certain things that I am going to be borrowing heavily from the AP even if I never run the full mini campaign, Tien Xia is basically the focal point for one or more characters.

Sure, consider the PCs are from families that once failed the Kaijutsu family, and are attempting to redeem their family's names. The family spends the last of their money equipping the PCs and sending them to aid Ameiko. Kaijutsu have retainers - it fits; all loyal retainers killed by whatever forced the family to Sandpoint? Still fits.

There's always another plot hook, you just don't always see them...

Just for my edification what's the ETA on the Jade Regent Player's Guide?

Very soon.

I'm looking forward to it.
